huge update

He was out there working on it, so I pulled on my big boy pants, and told him:
-it really looks to me that he is wanting to look in our yard at our little girls swimming in the pool
-would you consider build a solid railing to add some privacy?
-ill be building a structure of some sort to block his view, and it's because of his fort
-you can clearly do whatever you want on your property, I'm not trying to tell you what to do.

He said:
Whoops, I didn't even think of how the optics of it would appear
It's not nefarious
I won't be up here, just my kids
Maybe I'll build a solid barrier along the rails

I'll still be building a structure of some sort and planting trees.
You all gave me great ideas, thank you!

Are you telling us that you had a civil conversation with your neighbor and came to a reasonable solution? That's really not what we were hoping for. Do better OP.

Op i would still consider digging down to the roots of the tree on your side of the fence and injecting them with tordon. Dead tree needs taken out and isnt safe for a playhouse...

Flagpole just inside your fence line.

6’ tall American flag that just reaches below the fence.   Second pole to make sure old glory is always spread out.

Just wait for it to be completed to see what is actually going on.

It might end up all closed in with maybe a 2x2' window on that side, and if the kids are just oogling out that window, a pic or two of that behavior shown to your neighbor (courteous as he sounds now), will probably be the last of it. At least blocking that size of a view would be easier than blocking off a platform view, which I doubt he is planning. Kids want a jerk shack, not a patio for deck chairs on full display to their parents.

That tree house looks like a fire hazard to me.  I wouldn't be surprised if it burned down after the next lightning storm that you get.

just because you can't see into the treehouse, does not mean they can't see out of it.

ignore him, build your privacy barrier.

Build your fence even higher, that will show em.

6' height limit.

What about a platform with a 6 foot fence?

If not, then maybe "security" cameras pointed at the platform?

I have gone to great lengths and expense building a 6' privacy fence around my entire yard.

literally 4 days after my whole back yard is finally enclosed, asshole neighbor starts building a raised platform around one of his trees.
The base of the "2nd level" is roughly ~8' tall, so anytime he or his loudmouth kids want, they'll climb up there and holler at/watch me, my wife, and 3 daughters.
They have a long history of doing things like this.

Reasoning with the neighbor will be a waste of time.
He's also the mayor
, so I anticipate any code/etc complains from my part will be met with backfire.

So, what ideas for building some structure/etc for obstructing the view?
It likely needs to be like... 14 feet tall

Carefully drafted diagram:

Edit:
Pic of platform in progress. Just on the other side of my fence.
That top 2x4 is basically the base of the platform.

Get it on video without them knowing, lots of footage.  Then take it to social media and out him.  The mayor and his sons spy on my teenage daughters.  They harris me and wife too.  Quote everything they say that's out of line.  One thing roaches don't like it when the light is shined on them.

Or do... get one of those navigating drill things and then pump toxic chemicals into the roots of his tree.
