The recipe I use.
Any other suggestions to make it better? No beans. Eta … update… from pg 3. Didn’t want to keep everyone hanging… I eat late since I’m Night shift… I’ll probably eat around 230-3 am… here the progress on the chili. Still needs to reduce some and rest. And some cheddar cornbread that will go along with it… sorry I didn’t clean the stovetop for the pic. |

Get rid of this shit:
1 tablespoon firmly packed dark brown sugar, plus more as needed 1½ tablespoons distilled white vinegar, plus more as needed Sour cream Lime wedges View Quote |

It's got onion too, apparently, so it's some sort of watery meat pasty without a crust.

A variety of dried chiles, some fresh jalapeno and habanero chiles, smoked paprika, cumin, and substitute molasses for the brown sugar.

Might as well just buy a can of spaghetti sauce from the dollar store.

|
Try it without that sugar. Add it if you really don't like the sour.

Chili is a meat dish.
Chili is simple, with few ingredients. Sour cream, habaneros, limes and good Lord.......sugar or molasses? GTFO. |

One day someone is going to post a chili recipe that everyone agrees on.
Ya fuck that hell will freeze over three times just over beans alone. Attached File |

I like a good Texas style chili.....
I also like a good ground beef and beans chili...... But fuck Cincinnati style chili, that's an abomination |

Ever since I’ve had true chili… I crave it. |

Minus onion
Minus garlic Minus sugar Minus vinegar Instead substitute a decent gochujang (Korean chili sauce) equal to sugar plus half. Time saving as it combines those for you and enhances the chili flavor as well. |

If you want a good chili recipe for beginners, look up the Wazzo Tailgate chili recipe online. It’s actually pretty solid.
And yes on the ground cumin. |

If I don't have a local source for good dried chiles, is there one online?

Chili has to have beans. I use two kinds of beans, hamburger, sausage, corn, celery, tomato paste, diced tomatos and a few other things. I make good chili.

i feel that @subnet and @zhukov might not have had adequate chili thread exposure lately

|
That looks amazing. If my family would eat it, i would make it twice a week

View Quote My recipe is different, but you're correct on the beans front. Anyone who disagrees with beans must not have a chili trophy on the mantle like me. |

There have been times I haven't been able to get a certain one and have had pretty good luck with D'allesandro chile pastes. Its not very cost effective however. Can buy them on amazon for like $20 for a 1lb jar. |
