No lovely Great Lakes wrecks in FL, plus my hot flashes would be in overdrive. I’ll dive in cave country, but that’s it. And in the winter.

I always enjoy the posts about your dives.  My sister laughed at today's post when I sent it to her, she's a dive instructor in French Polynesia.

Gotta give you props.  I wear a 3mm full in 78 deg water with a Lavacore underneath, then come up with a chill and put my beanie on.  No F'in way I'm getting in water that cold.

Forgive my ignorance, but why is it a cardinal sin to have your mask on your head?  Don't tell me because it's supposed to be on your face...how are you supposed to get your glamour shots with that mask on?

Shout out to the doomers who are super jealous of your mask and personal O2 system!!

You’re taught from beginning open water class that a mask on the forehead means a diver in distress, but in reality, you have to look at the context. Am I in distress? Hell, no!

Ought to hang a pair of dirty socks on one of the ice lines and give the line a big jerk.

That'd wake somebody up.

I think ice diving would absolutely be the one place I'd make sure to wear black fins.  White fins just seem like they'd blend in against the ice.

Looks fun!  Can't say I've ever been ice diving.  Maybe one day.

Continued success and great adventures to you Marie, from a former (PADI ctf'. in 1970) mid-west diver who has been under the ice a few times his-own-self.

Gave it up when I outgrew the wetsuit I bought as a teen and after I dove Cozumel and Roatan.  Told myself I never wanted to dive cold water again.  That was a long time ago and I've kept that promise to myself ever since.

Always enjoy your threads and look forward to more!

I went ice diving a couple of times in upper Michigan
I decided the risk wasn’t worth it.  I only dive with open water to the surface above

I hope you put the ice back in the hole and marked it.  Snowmobilers and even foot traffic fall through unmarked spearing holes and die every year.

JackelopeMed & the-fly don't get to rescue anybody unless they fall through the ice.  Do you not want them to have a job?

OP, I made the mistake of taking SCUBA class in a fall semester, so our open-water certification dive was in Canyon Lake in November.  I didn't go back underwater until I was in Guam, more than a decade later.

Glad your dry suit worked.

Did that a couple of times years ago.

It's fun to go to the end of the rope when you are ready to come out, then put your fins on the Ice and ski upside down as the tender pulls you back to the hole.

I would be horrible at ce diving on a lake with ice fishermen on it.

I would stick my hand up every hole I got close to.

I would look for vexilar transducers and give the fishermen a hell of a show.

Imagine the look on their face as you approach their bait.

Then grab the line and yank it so hard they lose the pole in the water.

Then swim it up through the hole.

Or tip ups.  OMG, putting shit on a tip up just to mess with them.  Blow up dolls, bottles of booze, full beer cans of Hamms.

I could go on and on...

OMG - I am so going to convince my dive team to do that to someone the next time they're training.  Can you imagine this coming out of some hole of an ice covered lake ?

This is a decent sized lake. We were a good ways from the fishermen. You’re on lines only 100ft long. No way to do what you’re dreaming of.
