This right here.  A buddy of mine was talking the other day because the news was discussing the next “civil war” in response to some politician’s posts.  We started in that if it happens, who is fighting against who.  Race wars, Christians/other faith, LGBTQ, conservatives/liberals, communists/socialists … heck if fighting breaks out and truly does start into a “civil” war, you are going to have 10+ factions all fighting each other with nothing in common with each other.  Truly a nation divided by so many people while foreign nations sit back and laugh at all the confused people.

You have to care enough to join the party first.

Everyone I know in positions of leadership, both politically and in business, are either boomers or millennials.

We'll have a millennial president before we have an X'er president at this pace.

It's far more about age then generation. Young people tend to trend lib or socialist because they haven't earned much yet and getting ''free'' shit sounds easy and cool. Once any generation ages up a bit and acquires goods and wealth, they start leaning the other way. The Lazy Poor OTOH are almost always socialist their entire life and will always vote for whoever gives them the most ''free'' shit stolen from the people who work.

And uh, just to create even more strife, single women voting, as a whole, will be the death of the country. They want more ''free'' shit then any other group you can name. Of course their are outliers but even many of the ones that claim they are ''conservative'' aren't voting that way and if you talk to them long enough, you'll find out they aren't conservative at all.

Securing resources from others so that them and theirs might thrive through manipulation and coercion is kinda baked into their instinctive cake.

Just another way they’re trying to blame capitalism and promote being a commie fucktard.  If you accept boomers as the problem with economics you’ll accept capitalism as being the crux of the issue.

Kulaks were boomers before it was cool.

Who voted for the commies in office for the last ten year?  It was gen z and millennials.  I’m a millennial.  I see every day how stupid the politics of millennials is.

It’s worse than boomer politics for sure. Progressives have taken over.  Even so called republicans love a big government and lots of inflation and Chinese money skyrocketing their property values in a false economy.

Examples:
Boomers:  I want my social security I paid for. (at a rate of 1/4 of what you actually put it, never mind investment opportunity lost). So getting back less than they gave.

Millennials and gen z:  pay my college loans because fuck you.  Getting billions without putting anything in.

It’s a stark difference and perhaps the most obvious.

I never blamed anyone for the 11.5% interest rates on my first homes mortgage. I never even conceived blaming any earlier generation. Weird.

But I did pay extra on the principal to pay it off early then lived there 13 years afterward payment free before I sold it for 6 times the initial cost.

Cry me a river, challenging times build character.

Lol.

The flip side is CD’s in 1981 earned around 18%.

Sorry you chose poorly buying at the wrong time.

Also annualized returns for the S&P500 since then are around 11.5%

Please explain.....GenX is not a big enough demographic to influence things one way or the other.  At least not yet.  Look at chart above Genx is smaller that the Boomer and Millenial generations combined.  Best we can do is watch from the sidelines.

I'm a "Boomer" and life wasn't easy for a lot of my cohort.  Has anyone in the past 30 years had to pay 18%APR for a house loan (20% down, of course)?  Well we did without until mortgage rates were reasonable and then we bought a home.  You young'uns have had it pretty easy, is all I'm going to say.

Now do the cost of living, wages and demographics.

When all factors are accounted for, it is currently the least affordable modern era for homeownership.

And it is precisely because of low interest rates plus immigration.  Both are major Boomer priorities.

Who gave birth to millennials?

Who raised them in early childhood?

Who were the teachers that educated them?

Do any of those things have an influence on the socio-political beliefs of millennials? I'd argue quite a bit.

I hate this generational finger pointing, but millennials didn't just fuckin pop out of the womb the way they are. They are a product of previous generations. Zoomers and their successors will be able to say the same about millennials.

The oldest millennials first voted for a president in 2000. Shit was well past fucked by that point in many regards. It was probably 2010 before any significant amount of millennials were old enough to have any sort of power to influence society. Hell, we're still not at the point of being the majority of positions of power in education, politics, and industry. So who's really pulling the strings, STILL?

People generally get less commie and more conservative as they age, and millennials are just now starting to enter that phase of their life as they are now raising their own families. Until some go through that transition and start forging their own path, they're just living and influencing society the way they were raised and educated, and we don't raise and educate ourselves.

Always an excuse. Always someone else's fault.

I guess this would be a good time to point out that the "I'm a victim" crowd is ignoring the many who have managed to be happy and successful, you would think they don't exist but they do.

The "boomer haters" are no different than BLM or any of the other victim groups that are a failure, and instead of looking at the ones that are not a failure and trying to learn from them, how not to be a failure, they look to the victim groups and learn how to cry and whine.

At least there is a bit of reasoning in this thread amongst the wackadoodle cry babies.

I was born in 1960 near the end of the boomer generation. Yes, we were blessed with seeing America near its peak of greatness. I believe the actual peak was before my time, well before my birth, somewhere in the 50’s. It brings a sadness that grows daily that those that come behind me will never experience, or even know of that greatness.

I was fortunate enough to be the son of a professional soldier who honored his duty to stand up for what he believed was the government for the greater good. As a result he deployed to Viet Nam four times leaving his bride and young sons alone. We were privileged enough to be able to watch the evening news every single day to see if he was among the names the newscaster would call out of those killed that day. The emotional toll that put on families is probably not within the understanding of many of the www generations. He passed greatly disappointed, after finding out how treacherous the government that he put on a pedestal really is.

There were positives to that experience for me though. I was able to do more traveling to other countries and experience more cultures that most Americans ever do. I learned to make friends at many many new homes and schools. I was always the new guy. I learned fast, and young to make new friends of those willing, and to sort out by force if necessary those that weren’t. My next door neighbor might be of any one of the colors of American people. And that changed to one of the other colors overnight many times. I can tell you that it is human nature that children see none of those colors. Neither did our fathers, who's life may depend on a person of any of those colors at any given time.

Then I was blessed to come of age at the only other time since the great depression that our economy was in the situation that it is now. We understand the “poor me” attitude that is prevalent today, we just don’t understand spending more time crying about it than doing something about it. I worked two jobs housing, feeding, and clothing myself while paying to be a full time student.

I have been blessed to have been able to raise my children, other peoples children, to have taken care of my elderly parents during their passing, my disabled wife’s father as he passed in my home keeping him out of the hospital during covid, and now I am starting the process with her mother. I just need to live long enough to be there for my wife at her end.

I lived in America when the entirety of the planet knew without a doubt that she was the greatest country ever. I lived the dream as a young man with pockets full of money that I earned walking the yellow brick road spreading my wild oats as I passed. I could write volumes about the good times that I have experienced. I was asked once how many women I have slept with, and after considering it came up with a shamefully high number. A number that I had to add to many times as another one came to mind. So I have truly rewarded myself with good times.

Even with all of that I owe none of you a thing. The very little that I received from my parents after my father spent hundreds of thousands of dollars paying the debts he incurred from my mothers medical bills was inconsequential to the value of the lessons that he taught me as a child. My extremely woke liberal son who is welcome to come home to live at any time, never will because he was taught those very same lessons. He is self sustaining and able to live todays version of the good life because of this. He too shares the poor me, entitled mentality and is still hoping for pedo Joe to pay off the college debt that he signed up for beyond the all expenses paid private college education that was provided for. He chose that debt so that he could live the story book college experience. He borrowed that money to have fun and he should pay it, and gets angry because I, unlike his mother, thinks that he is honor bound to do so.

After that story I reiterate that I owe you nothing. The only thing that I bled dry was me. If you feel like you deserve what I have come and take it. That will be a long row to hoe. I have always been smarter than the average bear, I am old man strong, I have gained a  certain level of wisdom, and a life sentence means little to me. I have always spread the story of Americas greatness and tried to help others struggle to regain it.

Quit crying, sack up, get to work so you can pass along what once was.

And before I go help me out with understanding which of the not so much maligned generation is it that raised the woke, antifa, high school shooter, snowflake generation that plagues America today. Look in the mirror and put some of the blame there. Correcting that should take up enough of your time that these divisive boomer, gen  XYZ threads fade to where they belong.
