It will never happen, but allow me to fantasize for a moment:
Griner languishes in a Russian penal colony, subjected to forced labor, rape, and all the other horrible things Russian prisons are known for. (That’s not the fantasy part - I don’t wish that on anyone, that’s just what I’m pretty sure she’s going to experience) While experiencing this horror, she discovers a newfound love for her home country, and the values it was founded on. Her allies and supporters, oblivious to her epiphany, eventually secure her release. As she steps out of the plane when she arrives home, she walks to the podium and launches into a heart-felt pro-American, I’m-so-sorry-I-was-wrong-and-Progressiveism-is-the-real-evil speech that leaves her supporters and the media stunned and speechless. She then becomes a huge voice for freedom and liberty, going down as one of the most extreme examples of “red-pilling” in history. More likely: We’ll trade a bunch of actual terrorists and spies for her, and she’ll come back here a folk hero to her people, having escaped the clutches of Trump’s accomplices - the Russians. |

Her supporters should stop bitching. If she had been caught in Saudi, or Afghanistan, or similar places she would be killed. Not all cultures view drugs as a socially acceptable recreational activity. Many places still execute you for this.
