Yes. It was all laid out in Rosenstein's letter for the reasoning for the dismissal. Because Comey was untrustworthy. And was very creative in defining the boundaries of his job. Which panned out to be the truth. Former AGs agreed with the reasoning for the dismissal. View Quote That creates a pretty clear appearance of obstruction of justice, something the DoJ isn't really too happy about being put in the middle of. Rosenstien appointed Mueller to specifically continue the investigation Comey had started but as a special counsel who was, more or less, insulated from the President. Then no one could argue that the DoJ was a total puppet of the whitehouse. Had Trump stuck to the script Mueller would probably not have been appointed. |

View Quote If Comey was illegally fired he had a remedy for that - file a timely appeal with MSPB (or EEOC) & go through the process. Since he knew the firing was completely legal he didn't bother to file in a timely manner (within 30 days of the termination taking effect) - so that accusation is now without merit. Instead Comey chose to break the law with an illegal leak to the press - a leak he admitted was designed to get his buddy Mueller hired - and he should be prosecuted for it. Either way, the constitution already specifies the remedy for the unlawful actions of the president - it's called impeachment (followed by a Senate trial). D's already filed the articles of impeachment & it went nowhere - they can't even get their own caucus to support it - so again this nonsense is without merit. |
