The Cowabunga collection is awesome. One of the best old games collection to come out in a while. If you like the turtles that is. The Beat'em up games are up there with Streets of Rage, Final Fight, Double Dragon and the like. Especially Turtles in Time (snes).

there has never been a fun water level in any NES game
oh, and Mega Man I with one of the Doc Wily bosses that disassembles and you dodge the parts only to reassemble on the other side - get one hit off - and then do the same thing over again 50 times can fuck right off |

Can’t think of any game I ever played that was more difficult than R-Type.

Another one was Bayou Billy... fuck that game. Earthworm Jim on genesis also made me swear...
I landed on the aircraft carrier like twice and almost got an ass beating for waking up my dad one of those times as I screamed out in defiance of the Nintendo Gods. |

I love that game.
ETA - holy cow this whole thread represents my youth. I just went and bought the cowabunga collection. |

When I would come to visit, we would mess around with it and he kept getting better and better at donkey kong, until he was legit starting to kick my ass at it. I forgot how hard those old games are and the man still had reflexes like a friggin cat. We had fun with that little NES together when he couldn't do much else. I miss my dad. Fuck cancer. |

Quoted: There's a dude on YT that does a series call debunking the difficulty. He breaks down how to beat that game without much effort. It's a good watch for anyone that got smoked by that game repeatedly as a kid. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4yZtxiKlnw View Quote LOL. "Debunks" the difficulty by farming an OP item and glitching through the hard parts of the entire game. That game was ridiculous, it took me so many hours to finally beat it. |

Try out Bloodstained- Ritual of the Night if you haven't already. One of the main guys that created Castlevania SOTN made it. Gameplay is as good as SoTN, music isn't quite as good, but it's a really really good game. Fun platinum/100%, or whatever platform you play on. |
