I hung my house lights today. Just around the roof edge. Had time and the weather was right, and I have lot going on all week.
I have a strand of colored lights strung over my mantle just because I tested some last week and my kids wanted them to stay. We will do the Christmas tree and other decorations next weekend. |

Both mine are up in the living room and look damn good too.
Porch tree is up as well. |

I like having some December between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
40 days of Christmas belies it's true meaning. |
|
Meh. I'm older now, so it takes longer to get everything up, so I start earlier. Started the Christmas tree yesterday, outside lights tomorrow. Nothing will be lit until after Thanksgiving.

Went up today.
Time to watch the official Christmas movie of Arf |

11/1 anything else is late. I tend to do it after thanksgiving but this year I was early.

Wife and kids usually put ours up the weekend after Thanksgiving .
So did my mom and dad when we were kids in the 70's and 80's. |
|
Tree and all interior and exterior decorations are up. Fuck it, I love Christmas and we had some nice weather recently, so I would rather be outside putting up decorations in 50 degree weather than 30 degrees weather. IDGAF if you don't like it

I have no problem with anyone wanting to celebrate the birth of their Savior the Son of the Living God.

Quoted: Lived alone since leaving my parents house so I have never had a Christmas tree in my apartment/house. Ours went up a couple weeks ago, but it was just because that was a convenient time. We had my granddaughter and her friend over, so they decorated.
|

We don't have children, so we haven't put up a tree in at least 10 years but are putting one up this year to just try and have a nice Christmas.
I enjoy all the decorations; they bring back good memories of my grandparents. Plus it's fun to see my brother's children get so excited for Christmas. |

They are for sale everywhere around here. Tractor Supply had the best price I've seen yet (glancing while I'm at a store), although I'm not buying one this year.

We are usually very traditional and do it Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving. But the wife feels like she has a time crunch on her with our kids infrequent visits and she wants a little Christmas atmosphere this week with some of them making back into town.
We put it up yesterday. |
|
Growing up it was always about a week or two after thanksgivings. As an adult/after getting married, the past 7 years it’s been going up a week before Thanksgiving.

Weekend and/or day after Thanksgiving....
Now, I have been advancing some things - like hanging lights, but haven't turned them on. |
|
I have a live tree in my living room.
I never take it down. When it reaches the ceiling i'm going to take it outside and plant it in the yad. Then I can start over with another small three footer. |
|
We don't bother with a tree any more. Or gifts. Wife is in charge of decorations. We got a wreathe today, but she says it can't go up until December 1.

Quoted: Yep, Christmas is really mostly for kids. We already have everything we need and a hell of a lot more. We're trying to GET RID of stuff, not collect more. The Christmas decorations have been up at malls in the Philippines since August 22nd. Here, the Christmas season officially starts on the first of September.
NOT kidding. |

If we wouldn't be expecting new flooring for the living room, the tree would've been up 2 weeks ago.

Bah, humbug!
We put ours up after Thanksgiving, but the wife does pretty much all of it. I just help her put the artificial tree together. I could do without any of the pagan holiday crap. But I'm an admitted scrooge. The tree I'd like to put up would be a small fake palm tree, and put a few decorations on there. I do however play along and I do give out gifts to the wife and kids of course. Though more and more it's just cash, because hey... who doesn't want more cash? Easy for me and they like it. The wife and I usually get each other gift cards. She always gets me a Scheel's gift card and there's nowhere else I'd rather shop. |

I'm sure the miserable people of arf will bitch about it either way.

The weekend after Thanksgiving is traditional.
Retailers start Christmas in July October now. |

Usually after Thxgivign but my 9 year old wants us to put it up this week, so fuck it, we will. Kids like xmas and grow up too fast, I'll do it while I can.

Got ours out for the wife, it’s up not decorated. She likes Christmas. I thinks it too early but she doesn’t. Who cares? lol

My neighbor has had their tree up for a couple of weeks. When I commented about it, she said her 6 year-old son wanted it up. I had to bite my tongue to keep from saying, "What? You can't say no?"
