Love the balance of this gun. |

Finally got one in the flavor I was after. Man, that a real hunt to find. These things in some configurations are hen's teeth. Very grateful for having found it.

The extension mag tube seemed cheap as hell to me and I hated how the internal tube prevents easy replacement with something more durable. The mag tube clamp was also dubious in terms of "plastic" quality.
Beretta does the Microsoft "no longer support" thing too. No longer "support" the cracking slide Tomcat's. Won't even let you pay for replacement. Told me to "retire" the Tomcat. |

Does anyone know if the Magpul stock matches the color of the FDE Beretta?
I’m also looking for suggestions on an optic and mount. Thanks. Attached File |

I’m starting to think the mossy 940 is the better investment at this point.

Quoted: I'm starting to think the mossy 940 is the better investment at this point. View Quote I'm blessed to have both (actually, I just bought a second, spare 1301 ), and I kinda consider them to be different animals. We have the JM930 Tactical Class with Mesa Tactical stock, and IMHO it's just a bigger, heavier, seemingly more overbuilt machine as compared to the 1301, with in my mind importantly a larger capacity - my 930 is either 9+1 or 10+1 with its factory tube (I can never remember which). IMO the 1301 is super light, streamlined, and it points so intuitively it's uncanny. It feels tiny compared to the 930, but the 930 does have a longer barrel. I have not yet truly abused either, and with the 1301 I gotta admit, from all that I'm reading, one can get by for a long ass time without having to clean it while it still stays reliable. Its piston apparently has a flexible sleeve like structure that supposedly almost self cleans. But I dunno if "flexible" might possibly mean subject to breakdown or degradation of the years - I just don't know. On the other hand, the 930 is supposed to be cleaned like every 200-500 rounds, depending upon whose opinion and review you're reading. I understand the JM versions have the nickel boron coated gas piston, which might take it to even a higher round count before cleaning is needed, but I still need to test this myself. |

Quoted: I’m starting to think the mossy 940 is the better investment at this point. View Quote I haven't seen a 940 in the wild yet. I have seen probably more 1301s in class than maybe anyone but Tom Givens (and even then I'm not sure) and I can count on one hand the number of problems i've seen. And even then, some of those problems were user induced or because they bought a package from a company that included a part that didn't work well like those Nordic magazine followers that hang up in the magazine tube or can get spit back into the receiver if the shell stop/release latch isn't set up to work with it. I'll stick with the 1301. |

I’m at roughly 6k -7k rounds with my 1301 with no issues. Mostly bird with a fair amount of slugs (both standard and low recoil Remington law enforcement) and maybe 100 rounds of various buck. I abuse the poor thing with little cleaning and pretty rough use and it hasn’t complained. Quick squirt of dry lube before a match seems to keep it happy. I don’t think my 1301 will outlast my m2 (it been used for 3 gun going on over a decade, and just keeps going) but both handle being shot fast and dirty really well. I’ve seen way to many mossburgs simply not run to put any faith in them. Their almost as bad as the box fed guns to keep running. Seems like there’s always someone cursing a mossy at a match. General sentiment is either they run or they don’t. It’s a coin flip if you get a good one. |

I've read through the thread but it's been a while - if I'm looking for my first 1301 (and really, first shotgun of any type), would the experts recommend fixed choke or no?
https://www.reddit.com/r/gundeals/comments/vxkof4/shotgun_beretta_1301_tactical_12ga_185_w/ popped up this morning - heck of a deal for the new Gen2 model, but comments say it is fixed choke. It would mainly be a range toy and MAYBE home defense. I'd like to try 3-gun at some point. The new Mossberg 940 Pro interests me, but think I'd stay with the tried and tested 1301 at this point. |

Langdon doesn’t offer the black base model anymore and they don’t know if they will offer them again in the future. Boo. I’m not a fan of OD, FDE or the marine coat.

Does anyone know of a recoil reduction system that can be put on a 1301 tactical. I have looked and can't find anything other than butt stock pads.
The recoil doesn't bother me I am a big guy. The problem is my wife likes to shoot it but the recoil is hard on her. She is 5 foot 2 inches tall and weighs 100 lbs. Any info would be greatly appreciated. |
