some takeaways from this video
Different from the others I have seen: I noticed that the executioners faces are now seen clearly. The early videos were taken with no discernible backdrop (just desert and hills). Increasingly, ISIS has become brazen enough to show structures. This one has a small village with streets, people, small buildings and some type of radio tower (in the beheading video). The early videos featured nobody else except for executioner and prisoner. This video has an audience. In the case of the shotguns, a very large audience. It also not only featured the video "confession" but a re-enactment by the prisoner of his "crime". Also, the "crime" was reinforced after the execution by an ISIS member spray painting an X over the forced example after his death and a can of spray paint near the bodies. At the end of the video, the narration appeared to sound like a British accented Arabic speaker. Their production value is definitely getting better (I guess that is what the audiences like or whatever). I can see how this is definitely propaganda and has been for some time. They've definitely evolved since those very first videos in 2014. |
