Caught the first episode and I wasn't disappointed. Some serious, some funny and seems to have a good cast.

As long as they don't go full SJW with it I'll watch it again.

Fuuuck, the estrogen started off strong and I almost punched out. The outraged black Watch Sergeant didn't help much. But it got marginally better.

I thought the show is kind of staid, inoffensive pabulum, the usual formulaic shit that is the death knell of Free TV. The domestic scene was pretty good, though. I found Fillion's character a little too wide-eyed and innocent. This isn't a snot-nosed kid or some white collar worker who's never seen the rougher edge of life. He spent 20+ years in the construction business. He's probably been injured and seen people injured (maybe some horrifically), maybe killed. He's dealt with all sorts of personalities with all sorts of problems and probably been in one or two fights in his life. He should have been saltier.

Right!?! In 20+ years of construction, he'd have plenty of experience with dudes with problems related to drugs, alcohol, arrests, probation, domestic violence, etc. The character is a little too naïve for someone with his supposed background.

My only gripe was the only AR shown in LA (thats near California isn't it?) is non CA compliant and is full auto.

It gripes me anymore the only AR's you see on tv or movies are full auto. Gotta keep them scary.

Otherwise I thought it was pretty good.

Boots can't be salty, at least not to the senior or training officers. Boots need to have their mouths shut and eyes and ears open, especially in a town and department like L.A. The show got the attitudes almost right but dialogue wrong. There is so much age discrimination going on it isn't even funny for this day an age. When the Sgt. told him he didn't belong due to his age? He should have been a meter maid the next day. The Sgt's job is to enforce ALL LAPD policy and age/gender/sex/religious discrimination is strictly enforced and a very touchy subject. I think it is funny that he has been in a couple foot pursuits and hasn't caught anyone. I don't think he will all season.

Or, is he just fucking Rich from selling his Construction company....

I'll give it a few episodes. So far it's better than "SWAT" in my opinion....(of course almost ANYTHING is better than SWAT......)
