Not at all. But the dem party has yet to condemn any of the actions of this group. Especially after the ICE attack or the antifa/dsa post supporting the attack.

Be careful thinking there might be a slight connection though.

I'm old and had to look up "metalcore"

"Metalcore (or metallic hardcore ) is a fusion genre combining elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk, that originated in the late 1980s. Among other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, which are slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Other defining instrumentation includes heavy guitar riffs often utilizing percussive pedal tones and double bass drumming. Vocalists in the genre typically perform screaming, more popular bands often combine this with the use of standard singing, usually during the bridge or chorus of a song. However the death growl is also a popular technique within the genre."

Maybe I can find a new career as "lead growler"

I'm not sure that I'm familiar with any of their songs. Do they do covers? Maybe something like "The Girl from Ipanema"?

Anyone lookup the hoodie was wearing in the one picture. A band called the acacia strain. Some real not very wholesome lyrics.
I have hung out in that area since the late 1980's on occasion. Always been a trendy/college area. Metaphysical/bong bullshit shops mixed with porn shops and popular bars. Definitely hippie, hipster, goth, and alternative lifestyle people in the area mixed with people just going down there to party and walk away from it. Nice area with not much trouble for the most part. Dayton is not a big gang city if at all but definitely not in that area. I feel very bad for everyone. Senseless.
Don't start with this nanny state  bullshit. Acacia strain are just another metalcore band among the hundreds of metalcore bands out there. Stop sounding like tipper gore.

Not sure what your point is here.

My point was the previous poster was stating their lyrics were kind of scary and mean and was channeling his inner Tipper Gore; insinuating that the lyrics made the shooter do it.

I was saying that Acacia Strain is your run of the mill metalcore band; nothing special about them to assume they influenced his behaviour.

That's some Columbine Marilyn Manson/80s heavy metal devil worship type of hysteria right there.

The election is over a year out. Dem strategists (smart ones anyway) don’t want an energized right base. These events will have the dem candidates tripping over each other to be the most anti-gun when they’d be better off not making that a central issue.

If you were coordinating false flags to turn an election you’d want to be a lot closer. Think Comey re-opening the Clinton investigation.

ETA That’s my opinion, anyway.
View Quote
I think they need events to push legislation.

If legislation passes, they win, plus GOP base will be unhappy and turnout suppressed.

If they lose, they capitalize on more events next summer/fall and use those events to beat up on GOP candidates. ("You could have prevented this if you had passed our legislation")

Look who now controls the House and what gets voted on.

Were these recent events planned or coordinated by some unknown entity? Who knows. Highly unlikely, although seeing how patsies have been pushed to plan or do stuff in the past, not completely impossible. I think these were unconnected. Just losers, probably medicated, raised in an atmosphere with hyperviolent games, music etc available. Little or no real-world social contact reinforces it.

There were kids in high school and college eons ago who we thought were way out there, but there were far fewer, if any violent pastimes of the kind we see today. Alice Cooper was weird and fun, but we didn't want to go out and kill people after listening to him, or Ozzy or a bunch of others. Charles Manson was condemned as a madman instead of celebrated by the media. People that self-identified as turnips were not idolized as "avant-garde".

If you read the El Paso thread you will learn much young Padawan. The resources that our site can draw upon at times like these is immense. First, you have your classes of medicines mixed up. Second, a large percentage of Americans take the meds you listed.

If these meds caused violence, we would have acts of violence all over America at rates we’ve never seen. Violence would literally occur virtually everywhere, and it would be non-stop. It would have been occurring at that rate for over two decades.

Instead, what we see are acts committed by people who should be on strong meds but aren’t. If they’re on meds, the meds weren’t strong enough.
View Quote
We aren't seeing widespread violence, but we're seeing an uptick in a very specific set of outlier type crimes.  So the drugs work for most people most of the time in moderating their behavior, taking the peaks off of the highs and shallowing the valleys of the lows, and keeping the typical person under typical dosing from having a break under most conditions.

Would it really be that outlandish to say there's 1 in 10 million people that the drugs don't correctly work for, and while moderating their tendencies, when the break happens the break is BIG since they haven't been able to properly deal with their stressors?

The idea that without whatever drug, Johnny and Jimmy like to set trash cans on fire and get in a fight at school from time to time.  They both get put on meds to "correct" their behaviors, and now they're focused at school and not engaging in the petty destructive behaviors they were before so everything "worked", but now that there aren't these outlets for their stressors Jimmy is fine, but Johnny's keeps building and building and instead of having a minor break and getting into a fight, he has a major break and murders someone/shoots up a school/drives a van through a crowd.

El Paso Walmart rampage marks 250th mass shooting in 215 days

The gunfire that tore through a Walmart jammed with back-to-school shoppers on Saturday marked another bleak milestone in a nation pocked by gun violence: the 250th mass shooting of 2019. And the rampage in El Paso, which left 20 dead and 26 injured, notched an even darker statistic: It occurred on the 215th day of the year, meaning there have been more mass shootings than days so far this year. The massacre at the Walmart near the Cielo Vista Mall became the nation's latest mass shooting as defined by the Gun Violence Archive, a not-for-profit organization that provides online public access to information about gun-related violence. The archive categorizes mass shootings as incidents in which four or more people were shot or killed, not including the shooters. So far this year, 522 people have died in mass shootings and 2,040 have been injured, according to the data.

The incident also came in a particularly painful week: Two people were shot and killed at a Walmart store in Southaven, Mississippi, south of Memphis on Tuesday, and three people were killed by gunfire Sunday at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in northern California. Early Sunday, police said that at least nine people were killed and 16 others injured in a mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio, less than 24 hours following the El Paso massacre. And it follows two other high-profile shootings earlier this year. A longtime city worker opened fire in a building that houses Virginia Beach government offices on May 31, killing 12 before he was gunned down by police.

On Feb. 15, an employee at a manufacturing plant in Aurora, Illinois, opened fire during a disciplinary meeting where he was dismissed. He wounded one other employee and five of the first police officers to arrive at the suburban Chicago plant before he was killed during a shootout with police.
