Quite possibly yes.
Directly from the County's pamphlet regarding the homeless camp they intend to build next door:
Guidelines for Community Engagement & Centering Equity- Transparent & accountable communication (No, they tried to slip it through without telling anyone)
- Identify Neighborhood Demographics (Zero crime, check. Middle class, check. Mostly white*, check. Employed, check. Taxpaying homeowners, check. Not enough equity!)
- Co-create Community Agreements (Not even close. We got to meet and yell about it AFTER we found out through the vigilance of our own neighbors, but the decision had already been made without our input)
It's damn clear what this is really about.
*To be clear though, we're not all white and everyone's pissed just the same. Democrat, Republican, none of the above, whatever race you are, none of that seems to matter to us now. Everyone's standing together. If the goal was to bring the community together, then mission accomplished! And yeah, technically the Democrats in our community voted for those that are making this happen. But I'm not about to give them shit and create division when we're finally uniting over a common goal. If they're seeing the problem here, then perhaps a few might come around on their own.
