What is the deal with 300bo ?

Is it that the 300 ammo gets mixed in a mag of 5.56 and it explodes ?

I don't have 300bo and I don't believe I have ever even seen a round of it, but I am guessing a .30 cal bullet ?

That definitely looks to be an ammo issue.

I reload a bunch, and I share my reloads with my friends... which is why I check my ammo multiple times, gauging before and after loading, final weigh etc

I Know everyone likes speed loaders but I load 1 at a time by hand.

Besides getting used to it in the Army it let's me see every round.  I've found some fucked up shit in LC M855, incorrect projectiles, malformed/bent/angled projectiles, backward projectiles, massive case dents in the shoulder, etc.

I had a case head separation that led to a KB. A Colt Sporter was the victim. I had tossed the ammo boxes and put the ammo in an ammo can. Manufacturer went MIA since I had no proof. Colt said ammo problem, so no help. I was able to salvage the barrel and lower/accessories. At least G is coming up to the plate for you OP.

Do you have 300blk around the safe? Your story sounds like a squib if not. I'd send the remaining ammo for evaluation, as I'm not sure that you pulling and weighing would suit the CS rep.

300BLK is basically a cut down 5.56x45 case necked for 30 cal bullet. Same magazines, same BCG.. etc

If you have both, it's real easy to mix them up if you are not paying attention.

If a soldier who was going to be carrying a rifle in combat came to me and asked for advice about using a Strike Eagle, I would have just given him one of my decent LPVOs to take in exchange. He gets a real deal optic that won't let him down, and when we exchange again when he returns I get my optic back with a cool story.

You can't seriously be arguing that a Strike Eagle is anything more than a range toy grade Chicom piece of trash, regardless of whether or not someone bought it to bring on deployment

I was referencing the solider he ran into that was using one. The author didn't use one.

Again, plenty of logical fallacies, but nobody ready to step up and address the opinion shared by many here that a Strike Eagle is cheap Chinese garbage and has no place on a fighting rifle.

That "non-gun guy" that wrote the article, is a known member on ARF, and a competition shooter besides what he did in the Army.

That's my first suspect.

-OP reports confirmed impacts (and implied successful cycling) of the first 2 rounds fired.  3rd Round kabooms.  So not likely a problem with prior ammo or a squib.
-OP has an AR15, which has a rotating bolt that prevents the firing pin from clearing the pin-hole in the bolt, until fully rotated and closed.  And shooing factory ammo.  So not likely an OOB.
-OP owns a .300 blackout, and has an obstruction 10" from the muzzle.  That's a characteristic tell of a .300 BO induced Kaboom.
-OP is convinced no .300 BO could have possibly been comingled with this ammo.  Another characteristic tell of a .300 BO induced kaboom (Ok, being a bit smart-ass so please forgive, but there's a lot truth to that sentence - almost every .300 BO kaboom is preceded with a "no way could that have been mixed up" statement, prior to discovery).

Top suspect - this is almost certainly another .300 BO Kaboom.  The good news is this upon autopsy, the answer will quickly be clear if it really is .300 BO.

You certainly can... with the wrong powder. Given that the other rounds didn't explode it's not like someone snuck a 5.56 loaded with titegroup onto the line, though.

But any powder a manufacturer would use is probably pretty close to 100% case fill, and if it isn't that last little bit probably isn't enough for a catastrophic kaboom like this. I guess it's happened before, though.

Okay I thought I had still had the bulk box that these came in but apparently I've shot or loaded them all up in my mags and discarded the box. The only ammo I've bought in the last three years has come from the bulk deals with mags which my other cases that I have say Federal on the box but have Lake City head stamps. I seriously doubt that it was a 300 BO that slipped in. I keep them separate and use Daniel Defense mags for the 300 BO, the ammo isn't even kept on the same side of the gun room and I've only shot the BO twice.
