Quoted: It is a way to drain water thats in the ground around the foundation of your house. Soil thats saturated with water around your house can either push water up through your concrete floor or in extreme cases actually bow basement walls that your house sits on inward. In the house I grew up in....there was not a sump pump or anything. It had drainage tile and crushed rock around the foundation of the house, then it was tiled to drain down over a hill. The house I live in now (in town) has a six inch perforated plastic tile around the foundation that empties into a small pit in my basement. Its maybe two feet wide and two feet deep. Inside the pit is a submersible pump thats hooked up to a pipe that goes outside. Water runs in the tile around the house, into the pit, then when its high enough a float on the pump trips and water is pumped out to my side yard that slopes away from the house. Its a pretty good system actually. View Quote |

Winterized the camper today. Compressed air to blow out the water lines and black tank flush, drained the hot water tank, low point drains, and poured some antifreeze down the drains and toilet. Oh, forgot one thing, gotta drain the water pump strainer....

I did take the imps to an estate sale once, and the house had a basement. They thought it was the wildest, wackiest thing ever. An entire set of rooms under the house. |

I guess it just fucking blew his mind. |

Even with a half/split level/basement our house is smoll.
Our original plan was sell it and buy something bigger once we were doing better but with the housing market and how much money we've dumped into this house we're just like....fuck it, we're staying. I shouldnt complain. Its cheap to live in and we dont really need a lot of space. Just....a little more would be nice. Bigger rooms at least. |

I cant wait to get the inlaws house which has a basement with a fireplace and a shitter.
