Wasn't there a game in Cleveland last decade when bottles started flying?

Wouldn't surprise me here.

This crowd is outstanding

"Bottlegate", as it's known around here. A proud moment in Cleveland history.

Also, to this day, fans are still technically prohibited from bring dog bones into Browns Stadium.

That was a pretty fucked up call though.

I still don't think Bottlegate beats Jets fans setting our stadium on fire after  security took away a giant  inflatable pumpkin though.

Took a couple Panoramas at the Miami / Jets game yesterday. Figured this would be as good as a place as any to post them.

Honestly, I'm not seeing what Reed did wrong?  Branch was going low, Reed caught the top of his helmet with his shoulder.

I disagree with that one.

I agree, we have pretty much gotten to the point where great hits are penalties.

I understand some protection of the head, but until the players take it seriously, and start wearing the better helmets that they dont like because they dont look cool, I have a hard time taking it seriously either.

I agree that helmet to helmet hits are bad. Look at what happened to Darrius Heyward-Bey against the Steelers. They took him right out of the game, and maybe next week's game. But the good plays against receivers in the backfield that have always been the hallmark of a good safety, without using their helmet, are being called as penalties. They're essentially removing the safety from the game for anything but pass protection.

That was against the Jags. The refs ended the game early because of the bottle fiasco, but the Commish called the head ref and told him they had to finish the game.
Truly bizarre incident.

Cleveland has a long tradition of things getting out of hand at games. The worst was probalbyt the Indians 10 cent beer night in 1974.

Like I said earlier, that was loud.

The stadium was shaking, I sit in the lower level, and for me to feel the stadium shaking is saying something. The only other time I felt the stadium shake was last home game when some Orioles players were shown in a suite. It was awesome. The O's players were taken off guard, and they we very humble.

Back to the "bullshit" chant. I was surprised they kept playing the music. In the past Bruce Cunningham, the stadiums PA announcer, has been asked by the NFL to stop doing certain things. The visiting team is no longer introduced. They used to introduce each player individually and the fans would chant "sucks!" after each player. The NFL also made them stop announcing a 3rd down in the way they did in the past.

read a tidbit on replacement refs today...games are averaging 3:16 min, which is 10 minutes longer than the average through wk 3 from the past four years.

You know, I kinda like the new refs, and the NFL aught to just implement the ability for the refs to call up to the booth officials any time they are confused. If it takes a bit longer––so what? As long as the calls are right, I don't mind.

Some of you folks are acting as though the refs didn't have similar screw-ups in the past.*** I think they are doing a pretty good job overall considering the fact that they are new. Give them some extra time to get the right call, and give them a few more games, and I think these refs will be better than the old refs.

***I still have a dent in my shin from my coffee table because of this BS call. This literally cost us a playoff appearance.

They used to announce at the hockey games when a player was returning to the ice from the penalty box, and we would yell, and they still suck.

The Refs announcers are ruining this game.

NBC clearly has sided with the refs in the negotiations and is using their power as a broadcaster pound their position into the ground.  Try watching it muted like I am - it's a good, hard game and the refs are doing fine.

Don't let Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth tell you what to think.

They penalized Harbaugh for trying to call a timeout.

They were just making up for the incompetent crew that gave his brother an extra one.
