I'm being 100% serious when I say I hope Paul Allen may steps and concedes the win.

This is really bad publicity for his team. All that "perennial underdog" rep the Hawks have had is now dashed.

100% biased officiating in a Superbowl does not equal replacement officials in week 3, sorry.

yep––they've done statistical study on the time zone differences, and travelling west increases the probability of a loss, while travelling east increases the probability of a win.  the advantage of west coast teams is magnified the more time zones the opponent has to cross.  east coast teams lose 4 hours on the trip.

this is obviously most pronounced in noon games, which clearly isn't a factor here.  the hawks just dominated maybe the best offense in football.

but for all those guys laughing about romo last week...rodgers didn't do any better.

The UFC's Dana White constantly tells fighters that complain about judges decisions that they should fight better and not leave the outcome of the fight up to judges.  The Packers should have played better and they wouldn't have been in position to let incompetent officiating determine the outcome of the game.

Still, as a Viking fan, I laughed for an hour.  The cheeseheads around here are going to be on fire this morning.

It's not backwards. Going West makes it harder for teams to win. The games start at 1:00 PM EST, which means if you're playing on the West Coast, your game starts at 10:00 AM Pacific Time. Your body feels like it's playing 2 hours earlier than normal. Mike Smith did an interview on this over the weekend, and mentioned that the Falcons always leave for West Coast games on Friday instead of Saturday so the players have some extra time to adjust to the time difference.

For those claiming that the lockout is about to end, or the NFL will cave on the refs, don't get too excited. People are still buying tickets and jerseys and watching the game. It doesn't matter how many games are thrown, millions of fans are still going to watch every game they can, all season long. The NFL is not going to cave in to the ref demands. They're going to have to make some compromises or else we will have these replacement refs in the Super Bowl.

West coast games don't start at 10:00 Pacific time, only central and east coast games do.  Traveling east you actually play earlier than normal, when you travel west you play later.

Basically what these ref's determined is that if the ball is picked, the receiver just has to keep a hand on the ball till they go down, and it's ruled simultaneous possession

I may catch flak for saying this, while the ref's suck, they just are not up to speed for NFL games. It's hard to blame them, because of them we can even have a season. It takes 5 years for even a Div 1 college ref to eligible for the NFL.

Looks like you're right on the start times. But the original point was still correct. East Coast teams tend to struggle on the West Coast due to the time change. As I mentioned before, there was an entire article this week on the Falcons and how they handle West Coast games (they leave a day earlier).

West Coast teams are also statistically less likely to win on the East Coast if they have an early game.

Very true. This is the 2nd year in a row the Niners were scheduled East coast games back to back. Rather than fly home between games, they stayed in Youngstown, Ohio to avoid the problems that come with jet lag and time differences.

It's Official :

The following is a statement issued by the NFL regarding Golden Tate's game-winning touchdown catch at the conclusion of Monday night's game between the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks:

In Monday's game between the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks, Seattle faced a 4th-and-10 from the Green Bay 24 with eight seconds remaining in the game.

Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson threw a pass into the end zone. Several players, including Seattle wide receiver Golden Tate and Green Bay safety M.D. Jennings, jumped into the air in an attempt to catch the ball.

While the ball is in the air, Tate can be seen shoving Green Bay cornerback Sam Shields to the ground. This should have been a penalty for offensive pass interference, which would have ended the game. It was not called and is not reviewable in instant replay.

When the players hit the ground in the end zone, the officials determined that both Tate and Jennings had possession of the ball. Under the rule for simultaneous catch, the ball belongs to Tate, the offensive player. The result of the play was a touchdown.

Replay Official Howard Slavin stopped the game for an instant replay review. The aspects of the play that were reviewable included if the ball hit the ground and who had possession of the ball. In the end zone, a ruling of a simultaneous catch is reviewable. That is not the case in the field of play, only in the end zone.

Referee Wayne Elliott determined that no indisputable visual evidence existed to overturn the call on the field, and as a result, the on-field ruling of touchdown stood. The NFL Officiating Department reviewed the video today and supports the decision not to overturn the on-field ruling following the instant replay review.

The result of the game is final.
