Pity bump for Ted Cruz.  Republican strategist and 2012 surrogate for Mitt Romney campaign on Fox and Friends Saturday says Mitt Romney coming out for Ted Cruz will help some among Utah's Mormon population and be a negative everywhere else as it plays into the story line that Ted Cruz is an establishment candidate.

Yet Ted Cruz thanks Mitt Romney for his glowing endorsement.  This guy wants to be president?

Chris Christie.

You must be talking about that brilliant tactical move by Trump to get the focus off Trump's poor debate showing against Rubio.

Let's see, where is Rubio now?....That's right he's handing out towels at the Trump National Doral pool.

LOL...Perhaps he can put in a good word for Cruz.

Then again, he's far too short to be from Texas. Go figure.

RNC rules clash erupts

The chairman of the GOP's powerful Rules Committee accuses party leadership of a ‘breach of trust.'

By Alex Isenstadt and Shane Goldmacher

04/17/16 03:14 PM EDT

An
all-out internal power struggle has erupted at the Republican National
Committee, just days before a critical party gathering in Florida, as
the head of the RNC’s powerful rules committee has accused his own party
leadership of a "major breach of trust” in trying to block a rule
change that he said would make it harder to reopen the GOP nomination
fight at a contested convention this summer.

At issue: a
controversial proposal that would drastically alter how the convention
would function, changing the underlying rule book for proceedings — and
potentially affecting whether party insiders could draft a so-called
white knight at a deadlocked convention.

....

The proposal
in question would switch the rule book governing the convention from
the rules of the U.S. House of Representatives, which have been used at
Republican national conventions for decades, to Robert’s Rules of Order,
which is common in civic and organizational meetings.

"It became
apparent to me during the discussions with Reince and others at the RNC
that there might be an underlying political result that adherence to
the House Rules achieved, and that Roberts made more difficult,” Ash
wrote in the email, which was first reported by The Associated Press.
"Reopening the nominations for President during the balloting to permit a
more acceptable candidate to be nominated other than Donald Trump or
Ted Cruz.”

The proposal, which is the brainchild of Solomon Yue,
an RNC member from Oregon, would further empower delegates to determine
the course of the convention’s proceedings — while diminishing the power
of the convention’s presiding officer, a role that is expected to be
filled by House Speaker Paul Ryan. Yue has said he’s looking to increase
transparency by decreasing the influence of insiders.

In Ash’s
view, the change would have a profound impact on how the convention is
run, potentially making it harder for insiders to push through a white
knight candidate. In the email, Ash bluntly accused Priebus and his
allies of trying to quash the proposal because it could make it harder
to reopen the nomination process for a candidate who isn’t currently
running.

I hope Cruz gets the nod if they go beyond the first ballot.  He may not.  If he doesnt, Cruz will have still done this country a great service if he gets enough delegates to keep Trump from getting 1,237

I'd be willing to accept a consolation prize as long as it stops Trump.

You think Trump has the same number of delegates, votes, or states won as anyone else?  Not sure what about this primary season is a tie (IE 14-14)

You think Trump has the same number of delegates, votes, or states won as anyone else?  Not sure what about this primary season is a tie (IE 14-14)

Trump's contention is that if he doesn't get 1237 before the convention, but is just close, that there shouldn't even be a vote, that he should be given the nomination.

Also, Cruz fans aren't in this thread because it was started by a Fried Trumpling.

And yet the Trump thread was started by the same person and the Cruz zealots have no problem posting and posting often in that one.

The real reason, if you're being honest, is that Cruz zealots love talking about Trump significantly more than they do about their own candidate.

A strategy used well up till recently by Ted himself.

He perfected the art of letting Trump walk point and absorb all the incoming.

Trump, to his credit, apparently gave not one fuck and marched proudly out front.

Who is the better leader?

Wow, a whopping 8 pages in 7 months.

The Cruz campaign also expects he will win the nomination and then beat Hillary.

So does number of pages = number of delegates?

I don't understand your Trump Logic.

Cruz has his head down, hustling, vacuuming up delegates left and right.

He's not saying stupid shit about abortion, or whining about the rules.

Cruz is getting it done, which is boring compared to the flaming gold plated Trumpster fire.

I'm okay with it, why aren't you?

except ifthe roles were reversed, and cruz was in the lead, and trump was doing the same thing that cruz is doing now, the cjw's would be crying foul too

edit and still, the majority of people are ignoring stuff that shows the GOPe positioning themselves to get rid of both trump and cruz, and get their own person in as the nominee

The rabid "Toxic Ted" supporters here have run-up against a wall if he "wins" the nomination....Cruz has nowhere to go after that but down in defeat.

Cruz is like that dog that chases cars for years and finally catches one.....WTF does he do with it once he catches it?

I suspect Romney's and McCain's numbers would look good compared to Toxic Ted's in the general.

I read a report on the ABC News website which stated that two unbound delegates have stated that they intended to vote for the Senator.
The report did not include the preference of all the unbound delegates, so there may be more.
According to that report 39 of the unbound delegates have stated that they will vote for Trump.

Well, I will add to the Cruz thread that I am someone that does approve of Carly. She will bring some class to his campaign,,, something very  lacking. She perhaps might help him pick up a handful of votes as she is more popular than his junky ass. However, I question her judgement now, roping in with Cruz, and now wonder what the connection is between his broke ass supplying Carly with 500K of desperately needed funds--- for what??? What sort of ''hush money'' could this be??? Anyway, I approve of her.....

I think she can be a net plus if he winds up the nom.

She can nuke Hitlery with no fear of sexism charges and is fully capable of holding her own in any debate with anyone the Ds can throw at her.
