Give it 5 years and 70% of GD will support this. You guys will do whatever Hollywood and pop culture tells you to. Ten years ago most here didn't support gay marriage, Trans normalization, etc. How many states voted against gay marriage? Almost all of them? All it took was a few sympathetic gay characters in a few movies and TV shows, a few public shamings, a cake lawsuit, and now everyone supports it. Pedos are next, get ready sheep.

As usual, things like this are problems that could be fairly easily solved if government stupidity were not in the way.
Pedophiles may very well be born with their urges or have them shaped through childhood experiences. The same can be said about the vast amount of school shooters. That is not a valid reason for legalization and it’s never going to happen. The laws as written try to encompass a broad array of crimes that in a lot of cases defy common sense. An example of this would be an eighteen year old and seventeen year old couple exchanging inappropriate photos. Is it dumb? Sure. Does it merit ruining both of their lives by prosecuting them under the same laws with the same mandatory minimums as people who produce and intentionally possess images of little kids? Give me a break. There’s also other issues when it comes to the law in regards to protecting innocent Americans. In some states there are still no protections for young adults who are lied to regarding age. They could show ID and it wouldn’t matter. Not to mention, in some states the testimony of a single witness alone is considered sufficient evidence to convict, with no statute of limitations. That’s already being weaponized politically against conservatives. The laws need far more protections for the innocent and the young adults who make mistakes or are not familiar with the complicated laws, so that the real problems can be addressed and shut down with a quickness. |
