He played his usual wacky self in the 1950s film version of Lolita with James Mason. It was definitely something wrong with that guy but in a right sort of way.

Don’t forget he was in the comedic version of Casino Royale.  Completely under rated movie.

The Pink Panther Strikes Again was his best movie. I recently broke down and bought the Pink Panther collection disc set, just to get The Pink Panther Strikes Again on Blu ray disc. So many great scenes in that movie right from the beginning when Chief Inspector Clouseau goes to the sanitarium to visit the crazy former Chief Inspector on the day he's due for review for release ..............  "Jacques, start the car!!!!"

I may be wrong but was he the inventor of slapstick?

Comedy based on deliberately clumsy actions and humorously embarrassing events.

I loved the Pink Panther movies for years as a child and a young man.  Loved the humor.

Then, as an adult, it occurred to me the that whole film(s) are about the Brits making fun of French stereotypes. And it became a whole new level of funny.

Mack Sennett started it with the Keystone Kops and  Buster Keaton perfected it.

Sellers was just the last one to be able to pull it off successfully.

John Ritter tried but he didn't look natural at it, and Jon Cryer is pathetic at it.

Those movies made me laugh to tears when I was a kid. I LOVED Peter Sellers as the PP. it was surreal to realize he was in Dr. Strangelove.

Most ingenious. The old closet ploy. I really must congratulate you. If there's one thing I do enjoy, it's a good closet ploy!

I thought he was a funny guy.

I'll just leave this here:

".....This time the mercurial actor had deluded himself into thinking that his current co-star, Sophia Loren, was in love with him and about to ditch her producer husband, Carlo Ponti. At 3 a.m. Sellers shook his 7-year-old son, Michael, awake. As the boy rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, his father asked him an extraordinary question: “Do you think I should divorce your mummy? ......”

You'll need help.

I prefer to do this alone.

Yes, but if Dreyfus is what we suspect, he probably has an army behind him.

No, of course it won't be easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is. That is why I have always failed where others have succeeded.
