Now, nobody has ever accused me of NOT being a cheap motherfucker. I loves to save me some moniez. I've been paying attention to what they've been doing with this. I checked all of my ARs. Indeed, the adjustable stocks are all set to the same length, and so is the KE-15. Hmm. The grip is at the angle that I pay $20 extra for on all of my ARs. (and then give away the A2 grips). Hmm. I personally don't have a flared magwell because I'm too cheap to buy one. Hmmm. Full disclosure. I've had a number of Cav Arms and a couple of Sabre Arms lowers pass through my hands. I still have 1, while I gave the rest away as gifts to various family members after building them into rifles (and one to a friend in the form of the aforementioned blasta). Most of them have had minor issues. Most of those having to do with having to hog out the fire control well a little bit, and one where I broke a weld at the front of the mag well by torquing the lower too hard while it was hanging from a mag well block. I repaired them all with very little problem. Thing is, I've never, ever been able to repair an aluminum lower that was out of spec. Yeah, the modularity isn't there. They've done it all for you. Waah, sniffle, sniffle. The nerve! |
|
Quoted: Don't understand why anyone would give up the ability to customize their lower. Stocks, grips, and triggers guards seem to be items people like to choose when building their lowers. Most people that "customize" guns do it for vanity. |
|
Quoted: Yes! I always wanted an OD Cav Arms lower. Black, not so much.I have a few already. Quoted: Quoted: I want one so bad. Alas I have two complete receiver sets sitting at home right now so I'll probably hold off for a bit. OD Green would be a great color option to add as well... hint hint. Yes! I always wanted an OD Cav Arms lower. Black, not so much.I have a few already. The OD Cav is the only one I kept when I sold all my AR-15s. They are solid guns. |
|
Quoted: Well, I'm interested. I've been a fan of the Cav Arms lower since the Mark I and I have a GWACS made Mark II long before they did the WWSD project. Built it up into different setups over the years but my favorite is my A2 Midlength Lightweight Carbine. It is staying at that. https://i.imgur.com/lWjM2G1.jpg sweet rifle, looks just like mine |

Quoted: The main benefit of the KP-15 won't be the weight. It will be the fact you get a flared Magwell lower receiver with a buttstock, buffer tube, pistol grip, trigger guard, take down pins, and buttplate for $99,95 (or less depending on where you buy it). Maybe you can find a aluminum lowers cheap still, our inventory of 2016 over stock is gone as of last week. Even then you $39.95 aluminum lower doesn't include all those parts. And I must reiterate we are creating the ability to make a polymer receiver that is durable EVERY 60 SECONDS. As inventory and raw materials are depleted everywhere and we enter a prolonged period of unprecedented gun sales could you perhaps consider that this manufacturing power might be a good thing? ![]() I definitely don't need one, but my experience with the GWACS lowers is making me think of buying one of these. They're just too neat. |
|
Definitely want to try it out. the WWSD2017 was a great series. I'm not sure whether I'll do a complete rifle or just the lower. I'm not a huge fan of the handguard, just from an aesthetics pov. Russel, is there a "complete rifle vs buying parts individually" type of comparison for overall cost? |
|
Quoted: So if I order one of the stripped ones from Brownells, what do I need to complete the stock portion? From the renderings I guess I'd need an A2 buttpad and screws? It is my understanding from the vid that it was going to complete with an aluminum buttplate? |

The cost of the rifle is basically the MSRP of all the parts added together. Can’t be any less expensive thanks to Federal Excise Tax |
|
I will likely order one of these in the form of a stripped lower. I need another AR like another hole in the head, but I think it would fun to assemble and shoot. I am currently thinking a mid-length barrel, magpul handguard (just because I have a spare), a fixed FSB and A1 style upper. |

Quoted: The cost of the rifle is basically the MSRP of all the parts added together. Can't be any less expensive thanks to Federal Excise Tax For the old models (GWACS) or new models, are there any better or worse types of appliqu finishes to avoid? I know some paints and solvents can contain petroleum distillates which can break down certain polymers. |

Quoted: Stupid question, and may have been answered already, but how is it handling the buffer spring assembly? My current AR has the standard set up of a detent that holds the assembly in place, what will this do in that regarded? The buffer detent is held in with a roll pin |

My current AR has the standard set up of a detent that holds the assembly in place, what will this do in that regarded? Remember how the early M-16s pinned the buffer tube in place, and then Colt realized that wasn't needed? CavArms repurposed that pin to hold the buffer detent in place w/o a screw in buffer tube. So, you install your buffer detent spring, then your buffer detent, then you slide in a very thin roll pin to hold the buffer detent in place. I have been known to use a paperclip and superglue...

I worked out something last night. KE Arms doesn't pay Karl any royalties on the WWSD rifles that sell. Every click on ARFCOM makes Brownells money. Brownells will be paying Karl royalties on every WWSD rifle that sells. So - if you're even browsing ARFCOM, you are literally supporting SATAN, lol. |

I'm a big fan of the Cav Arms stuff going way back. I can't get into this because of Karl's involvement. I wish I could, but I can't be a party to something which is connected to someone with apparent leftist ties. It's antithetical to what I believe, let alone the connection to Satanism. I wish Russel all the best, but much like Troy, Springfield, et al, I'm not going to purchase anything from them while that connection exists. I appreciate you pointing out that Brownells is apparently in on this too. It could very well effect my membership and anything I buy from them too. I have not doubt I'm not the only one, but there probably aren't enough of us for anyone to care. |

Not trying to call you out, but interested on your take given the following info: Troy did sever ties with the Lon's spotter and fired the person who hired him. I am unaware of any ties Karl has to leftists. I've been a subscriber for years and have watched almost every video InRange has put out on all sorts of subjects. His videos on technology and old west history make it clear to me he is a very libertarian kind of guy. I am a church going christian, and I have friends who like Karl are atheists. Satanists don't worship Satan. They don't believe in God, much less the devil. |

I have placed an order at Brownell's for the stripped lower version. End of q2 has been the word from the beginning, and no indication of delays so far. End of Q2 was just over a week ago. Unless you're using the fiscal calendar. Last I heard was "late July". |

I have not doubt I'm not the only one, but there probably aren't enough of us for anyone to care. KE Arms do not have a financial connection w/ Karl, so you can buy a KP-15 lower w/ a clean conscience. Brownells is pushing the WWSD 2020 rifle project, and KE Arms supplies the lower for that. JP supplies the captured buffer & spring. Faxon supplies the handguard, and I think the bbl as well. If you want to indulge yourself in Cancel Culture, in which a single wrong makes EVERYTHING WRONG despite everything else being right, go ahead, boycott Brownells and this site, Faxon, JP, KE Arms, and every other vendor that supplies parts to Brownells for the WWSD 2020 rifle. Don't forget to boycott every other vendor who sells to Brownells, which will pretty much reduce you to hand pouring your 80% lowers from melted coke cans & engine parts, hand making bbls w/ EDM, and 3-D printing everything else. Karl & Ian came up w/ the idea of the WWSD 2017 project, which depleted GWACS' inventory of lowers. Russell, who is a shooting partner of Ian and Karl, and has long experience w/ Cav Arms & GWACS, decided to invest his hard earned money into a modernized Cav Arms Mk 2. Karl & Ian, delighted, capitalized on the KP-15 and designed the WWSD 2020 rifle around it, and are trying to make money off the WWSD 2020 rifle by licensing it through Brownells. Clearly, the KP-15 is a damn good thing to come into the industry at a time when we are faced w/ insurrection, and the possible loss of the Presidency and the Senate. As Russell says, in full production, he can crank out one of these lowers every 60 seconds. That's 1400 lowers A DAY. That can arm a division of patriots in a week. If you refuse to support Russell's achievement b/c of Karl's personal religion or him posting a hashtag and not posting a video for a week, I don't know what to tell you. |

@SinistralRifleman OUTSTANDING! People here seem to have no idea of the business management/legal/technical complexities the Forgotten Weapons/InRange/KE Arms team took on getting to this point. I suggest you ignore them. All of them. And for the team to have gotten this far, this fast... well... CONGRATULATIONS!! |

Quoted: Any new ideas when these will be available? I have placed an order at Brownell's for the stripped lower version. We said late quarter 2 back in January before COVID and some other minor delays. I cover this in the latest InRange videos on the subject. We are regularly posting updates to social media as we reach milestones now i.e. completion of the mold cavities. The cores are scheduled to be finished next week. Then its test fitting all the mold pieces together and make any changes if necessary. Then test shots and test welds. Make necessary final adjustments and then production run. |

I have not doubt I'm not the only one, but there probably aren't enough of us for anyone to care. I thought conservatives were better than this cancel culture nonsense. As I have posted before, KE Arms does not pay anything to Karl or InRange related to the KP-15 and the WWSD2020 project. Karl has never posted about his religion (or lack there of) through InRange channels. People he believed were his friends took his postings on his personal facebook and shared them. They attacked people he cared about and violated his privacy. He regularly receives harassing and threatening messages and slander that have nothing to do with content he has put out through his own channel. Despite all this he hasn't responded to it or addressed the issue publicly because all it would do is embolden these assholes that take joy in trying to make his life miserable. Seeing what happened to people Karl cared about is why I personally don't share anything about my own girlfriend on social media. She doesn't deserve the sort of hatred that anonymous people on the internet would bring. Karl cannot respond to you directly because the site views InRange as a commercial entity; the same way they do dealers and manufacturers. So unless he's willing to spend hundreds of dollars monthly (he's not), he cannot answer you or anyone else. My personal political opinions and beliefs differ from Karl's in many areas. You want a hint of that you can look at my own Instagram account and compare it to the stuff he posts on InRange. But you know what? Functioning adults can work together towards common goals and for common purposes even if they believe differently. Without InRange's coverage of the WWSD project and invigorating interest from an entirely new generation and untapped demographics of shooters the concept would have faded into obscurity. Being able to produce receivers in volume for responsible american citizens as we enter political uncertainty is a net good for the firearms community. The more people who own modern rifles, the lower the possibility of you losing your rights. This includes people you may not agree with politically. InRange has attracted a very non-tradtional audience compared to any other firearms media outlet; and that is a very good thing. These people are less likely to vote against your rights if they see value in having them themselves. |

Quoted: You are still free to quote him out of context and use ad hominem attacks against him. Out of context? I thought his meaning was rather plain to see in the screenshot I posted, hence my use of the admittedly tongue in cheek “shut up whitey”. Karl participated in an online movement that was intended to suppress the ‘voices’ of people based on the color of their skin, NOT the ideas in their head. That, my friend, is by definition racism. Furthermore, he has given a rabid anti-Trumper and Democrat supporter access to his supporters by inviting him on his channel. In an election year that will undoubtedly be close, this shows poor judgement on Karl’s behalf. I’m glad to know he won’t receive compensation from KE Arms (and hopefully none from Brownells, either) as I really liked the original Cav Arms lower. |
|
Quoted: I am not a fan of Karl's politics per say but he is a nice enough dude and I like what he does so I don't really care about his politics/religion. I don't like mormanism but if somebody came up to me with a free 1911 or a hi-power I wouldn't say no. You should be paying attention to what the item is not the person behind it. If you don't like the idea of a durable (and proven by various videos and articles by Russell Phagen) polymer lower that includes the buffer, pistol grip, and stock for <100$s then go somewhere else? Yes the market has moved towards wanting more modularity and that will, in some regards, probably turn people off especially in regards to the pistol grip but the product is still way on the cheap end. You can conceivably buy a kp15 lower for <100$, a lower parts kit for <100$ and then some aero or anderson complete upper for ~200$s and voila, 400$ AR15. You can't ask for a whole ton more than that if you just go plinking every now and again. If you want a competitive rifle it still works in that capacity for using a pistol grip angle that is pretty popular, a stock length that most people end up using, all for 100$s. Like other than fudd lore that is vehemently anti polymer because of muh superior m14 or something despite that rifle having a service life shorter than the Bush Jr presidency and the lack of presumed modularity that most would likely end up at anyways, what's the issue with the kp-15? Welcome back
