Must be running low on revenue for some fuckhead to even bother thinking about something this fucking stupid, let alone voice it.
And there were enough retards in positions of authority to make it happen… |

Riding at night on my local trails solves a huge percentage of the pedestrian problem. At dusk the walkers and casual users simply vanish.
Most trailheads are posted "closes at dark" but if you're running lights on your bike and wearing gear, the assumption is you're a serious cyclist and not a methbilly looking for a spot to cook. So you're left alone by the locals. If riding by myself I carry. If in a group, someone always is. Can go as fast as you want and the odds of encountering someone else are very low. |

Quoted: One of the highest violent crime areas in America, and their DEI hires have nothing better to do than "warn" bicyclists? The irony is that those riders are probably fleeing an attempted rape or murder, but because their cars were stolen the bicycle is all they have left. Way to further oppress the victim, DCPD! Cunts. View Quote That was also my first thought. FDC. |

5% of the bikers ruin it for everyone.
5% of the walkers are an absolute menace to bikers. EVERYONE with an off-leash dog on a bike trail DESERVES a ticket. But they won’t get one. Every man for himself really is the natural order of things. Don’t be afraid to call out an asshole. The police won’t protect you. Sometimes they will take a report AFTER some serious shit happens. |

I wish they would enforce stop signs, traffic lights and intersections on bicyclists instead.

1972 St.Louis County
I was a young lad in a rural part of the county. I was going up hill and grabbed the door handle of a car and was being towed on my bicycle. An officer turned the corner and seen us and I let go. So he stops me and asked who was driving. Huh what you talking about? The allstar saving me from myself wrote me 2 tickets, one for unlawful clinging to a moving motor vehicle and another for speeding, 39 in a 35. But the guy that was towing me was a neighborhood county cop. I did not want to say that but he probably knew him anyway as at that time there maybe was only 2 cops on a shift in that district and knew the car. Juvinile court sent a letter to the house saying that they determined that the case was not going to be pursued but that if I got caught again these charges could be used at that time. Then I got a motorcycle.... My Pop was very understanding, He used to say He was a kid one time too. |

Lol. A few blocks away 15 year olds are carjacking commuters and killing each other. But that sounds dangerous so the MPD is going to chase bicicyle riding rich people.

Quoted: I hate bicyclists more than speed enforcement. Lock them all up. View Quote Damn straight. When I take walks, I don't bother watching for cars - they'll stop at the stop signs. I have to look out for those fucking bike riders who NEVER stop for the stop signs and will mow pedestrians' asses over in a heartbeat with a clear conscience. |

Some cyclists seem to think that they are racing in the Tour de France while riding on local trails shared with pedestrians, kids, dogs, etc so I can kind of understand why.
|
|
Can I ask a cop who pulls me over for going 10MPH over the speed limit in a rural area with no traffic and not anyone to be seen within a quarter mile - "is there any other crimes being committed you should know about?"
........ because Seriously, I just drive five minutes from the opposite direction and see probably 50 traffic violations and what out right looks to be either violence or theft behind me. Hey, who I am to say what the easy route is and how much is my ticket? |
|

Quoted: On a bike trail. I'm sure GD will have a meltdown in this conflict since we hate bicyclists but also hate speed enforcement. But do we hate speed enforcement on a bike trail? In fairness they are just 'asking' people to slow down unless going really fast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRXfNfPvNJA View Quote Rangers were renowned for giving speeding tickets in Mt. Tam trails in the 80's. One more reason to, LOL the Bay Area. Not watching the video, but DC Washington or Washington State? Though it'd be on-brand for both. Glad to see their clearance rates on other crimes are good enough to spend resources on this shit. |
|
Though cynically, giving speeding tickets on a bike trail sounds like a fantastic way to have revenue-producing law enforcement, without running afoul of any pesky wrongthink disproportionate citation frequencies between races. Plus, they'll actually show up to pay the citation, lol.

lol. Sounds like a similar assignment to looking for the brass magnet to keep an otherwise liability out of the streets.

I saw a bicyclist here zoom through a red light, and almost get hit by a car. Many or maybe even most of them appear to be of the understanding that traffic laws don't apply to then.
The laws of physics certainly apply to them. |

Lots of bike riders have speedometers.
We have a big multi use trail system in our county. 95% of users get along fine. X% of walkers have their heads up their asses and are oblivious to everything around them. X% of cyclists are dickheads trying to break the Strava record for some segment and are riding 30+ mph among pedestrians including families with kids. Cycle speed limit is 10 miles per hour. PD occasionally does speed measurement, but not often. They do patrol the trails, though. |
