Just a wild thought that dosn't rate a new thread.
Any chance the Dems could tack a prohibitive tax on ammunition, magazines, and specific firearms, and use it as a lever in the whole fiscalopaclypticmageddon? Spray tanned cock breath Boehner has already bent over, and would sell us out in a heartbeat on that front, and both sides could claim they did not infringe. |

Imagine if someone said, ‘I want a trained fire professional on site. I want a fire hat, I want a fire uniform, I want a fire badge. But! No fire extinguishers in this building. No fire hoses. The hat, the badge, the uniform — that will keep us safe — but we have no need for fire extinguishers.’ Well, that would be insane. It is equally insane, delusional, legally liable, to say, ‘I want a trained security professional on site. I want a security hat, I want a security uniform, and I want a security badge, but I don’t want a gun.’ It’s not the hat, the uniform, or the badge. It’s the tools in the hands of a trained professional that keeps us safe.
"Our problem is not money,” said Grossman. "It is denial.”
This makes me want to know how many school fires have happened in the last 50 years. Zero deaths out of how many fires? Well, with nothing made out of combustible materials - intentionally - zero. |

Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said the nation "could be at a tipping point ... a tipping point where we might actually get something done" on gun control. He and other Democrats, as well as Lieberman, said they want to ban the sale of new assault weapons and make it harder for mentally ill individuals to obtain weapons.
Despite the glaring fact that the last 2 killers didn't own any guns, and stole the ones they used so regulations restricting assault weapon purchases or making it harder for the mentally ill to obtain weapons would have had no effect. Without an unbiased media outlet, this is a losing fight. The inconsistancy will not be highlighted and the stupid American people can not think to save there own lives will buy it hook line and sinker. |

Keep hitting all those polls; we are in a majority in every one, so that message is getting out to the anti gun nazis.

Somebody clarify something for me. I haven't ready every little detail about this shooting, but it was my understanding that the shooter used two pistols and left the AR-15 in the car, but according to this article,
http://jezebel.com/5968971/that-woman-is-not-adam-lanzas-mother-and-shes-distracting-us-from-the-real-issue?utm_source=kotaku.com&utm_medium=recirculation&utm_campaign=recirculation We don't know what Adam Lanza's diagnosis is, but we do know that Nancy Lanza kept guns in the house, and quite a few of them, including a Bushmaster .223-caliber rifle,, the AR-15 style assault weapon used in all of the killings (except for his own, in which he used a handgun). Of course, it's available for purchase at Walmart currently. Its slogan? "This gun from Bushmaster will always shoot straight and aim true." Creepily, the banner ad to its right advertises, "Cookie Season Is Here!"
The AR-15 was used to kill everybody? Is this a load of bullshit? Or did the story change from when I last heard about it? |

West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, an "A" rated member of the NRA, on Monday questioned the availability of assault weapons and suggested Friday's shooting in Newtown, Conn. has opened up the issue for debate.
Manchin said past debates about assault weapons have been shut down over a fear of destroying Second Amendment rights. But the senator said last Friday's shooting changed all that. "The massacre of so many innocent children has changed—has changed America. We've never seen this happen," Manchin said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe." Manchin issued criticism of assault weapons, saying, "I don't know anyone in the sporting or hunting arena that goes out with an assault rifle. I don't know anybody that needs 30 rounds in a clip to go hunting. I mean, these are things that need to be talked about." |

Has anyone heard whether or not the piece of shit used a "preban" or "postban" AR? If you didn't know, there is a AWB here in CT. I know for a fact that it's down right difficult, if not impossible to find a "preban" AR here.
|
|
Right now we are only hearing one side of this argument. The NRA, as they should IMO are doing the decent thing and allowing the families to bury their loved ones. Of course the antis are showing no such class.
Hopefully in a week or 2 the NRA, NSSF and other orgs will relay our side. And hopefully do it well. |

I do hope that if a ban passes that the gun companies we have supported over the years with our money will treat the Feds and the States exactly like Mr. Barrett treated California.

There's a White House petition that still needs 11000 signatures if you're interested. I'm sure it won't do much but, as I understand it, once it hits 25000 signatures they are required to reply to it.

Sadly I feel for these parents. If I lost any of my kids it would be a scar I would forever carry and if I lost all of them I would not be able to go on so I have true sympathy for all of them.
Yet with this sad shooting and I am back to same thoughts as the last one. Will it ever occur to the Media that psychos are enticed to do their evil first based on the desensitizing of violence they see their whole life thru the media and the fact that the media makes them famous for several months to a year bringing their lives into the spotlight. Really are you that ignorant in the media that you can't see that you are the real cause (along with mental health issues). I love how Conn is AWB state and no mention is made of it. And only a slight mention of a failed 4473 or how this individual forced his way in and was obviously hell bent on harming innocent children and those who protect them, yet "take all guns away" and the problem is solved is the answer they cry. Or the guy that murdered the people in the movie theater who also boobytrapped his apt yet the media made no logical assumption of take guns away and this guy would have just blown a movie theater up. Good luck ridding the world of anything explosive. Or God help us if a media figure ever realizes that these psychos only go where people are unable to fight back due to age or weapons restrictions or at a disadvantage like dark theater. Personally I think they should NEVER mention any murderers name to prevent that fame he so desperately wanted but the media will never see it that way. We have to "keep people informed" they will say. Strangely Friday I spent time away from work with some 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders reviewing their science projects on inventions - very ironic to me. Saturday as the details unfolded I couldn't help but think of the security at that school where I volunteered. Just a lady sitting at a front desk with 2 others at desks behind her not paying attention and the first class room was 10 ft away - I hope the principals in the U.S. realize that this isn't enough anymore and the world is full of this kind of evil. I have to go tour my son's new school this January and I can say I am going to have a lot of security-aimed questions. I hate to see my kids go to a fortress for their education but there isn't much else left to do. My kids have to be buzzed in at their school but even that has its weaknesses. Thanks for listening. I needed to address some like minded folks here to consolidate my thoughts before I try to address some non-like minded folks elsewhere. |

Has anyone mentioned/thought of the fact that, with the way the public is eating up EBRs and such, immediately halting production and sales on the civilian side of things for these kinds of guns would hurt lots of American business and employees? Seems like an awful lot of folks could be out of work.

Just another sad thought as far as implications of such legislation. I mean, there are only so many manufacturers that have military/LE contracts and whatnot. The civilian market has been what has made lots of our favorite companies flourish. Sucks. |

Quoted: Confirms what I, and many others already knew.....you take out the shooter, you save lives Interesting article - a good read. Also interesting is the number of schools shootings vs. other locations. Seems that schools are a relatively dangerous place, as far as shooting rampages go. Maybe 'going educational' is the new 'going postal' |

I see Hillary is squirming out of testifying - she has a headache. |

After the ban, what will we use when the ROP extremists start doing their evil deeds here?

Izhmash is going to go out of business without the US civilian market....

Quoted: @dickdurbin Senate floor now talking about need for limits on assault weapons..need hunters to join for calls of reasonable standardsEveryone here needs to reach out to the hunting world immediately and make sure that that group understands that we all need to stand together. As far as I am concerned, I'm not going to be thrown under the bus by them this time without fighting back - I'm sure that our legislators could be made to understand just how similar a hunting rifle is to a sniper rifle, and that a shotgun loaded w/ 00Buck is like a high capacity 9mm pistol.

So me and my brother are now looking for a lower or two for "security". I called several shops. All are swamped with in store customers and phone customers. All qupted several month backorders for lower!

If those hunters sell us out, they are only buying time. "Sniper" rifles will be up next. Ted Kennedy's push to ban "armor piercing" ammunition woke a few of those fudds up when it was explained to them that .30-30, .30-06 and .308 would be on that list If they start beating the anti black rifle drums, perhaps they need to be reminded of that again. |

Read carefully... Appearing on CBS’s Face the Nation Sunday, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) told host Bob Schieffer that in order to solve the political “gridlock” around the gun control debate, both Democrats and Republicans need to come out of their “corners” and move towards the middle. His prescription for the left was that they should “admit there is a Second Amendment right to bear arms.”Meanwhile, the right must concede “that no amendment is absolute.”

Wonder if gun dealers or manufacturers have been getting any herp derp from the media or such on the "assault weapons" they sell.

I have a FUD on my payroll. Talking to him about this was a waste of time. He didn't even know hi-caps were legal for hunting here as of Nov. He's a good guy and we've been working together for over 30 years.
But he's not interested in hearing facts or statistics. Like most ignorant people on guns (except his 30/30) he has so many preconceptions that are way off that I simply gave up talking to him about this and we switched to sports. If I had kept trying we'd never get any work done. The problem is the decisions makers and virtually all the media have zero knowledge about ARs. What is really needed are knowledgeable people who are well spoken to present our case. But with mental midgets like Bo Deitle playing gun expert on FNC, there is no way to present an intelegant response to the antis. I shudder to think who is going to be on O'Rielly tonight. Once the dead are buried the NRA needs I go on offense big time. |
