Terra is neither a sphere nor flat. She has sufficient mass to maintain roughly ball shaped form, but to call her flat or spherical are equally wrong, just in different frames of reference.

There is a small part of me that has some degree of appreciation for people in the flat earth movement. Hear me out.
How many people know beyond the shadow of a doubt that the earth is round, but have never actually looked into it? They've never gone to the beach and watched a ship drop below the horizon, or been high enough in an airplane to see the curvature, or done any actual observation. They just believe it because somebody told them to. The mottto of The Royal Society is "nullius in verba," which is Latin for "on the word of nobody." At least the flat earthers (the real ones, anyway) are basing their belief on what they have observed, even if their observations--and thus their conclusions--come up short. |
