And how many months ago did he say that the public should be able to see all of the Jan 6th surveillance footage? Kevin McCarthy is such a piece of shit. He just lies and pretends he's not uni-party trash, when that's exactly what he is. He just hides it a little better than Mitch.

The Republican party is utterly worthless - a party of nothing but back stabbers. They'll happily slow walk us into full on communism, if they can personally benefit.

My bet is the Dems caved on the 2yr extension bit, so the GOP thinks they still have control over this next year, and we will go through this shit again. I know that was a sticking point.

From a FNC article:

How many fucking vacations does this guy take!

This is true, the US is never paying this debt off unless the Dollar suffers from massive fricken inflation, at which point the Country is screwed. But, the Fed has raised rates, and the US is paying a shit ton a year to service the debt. I cannot remember if it is 8 or 15%, or somewhere in between, of the budget every year.

From the Democratic Underground:

LOL! Crazy how the left and right fringes are enraged with this deal- This is a HUGE win for PJB/Ds
It's beyond hillarious. The fringes of both ends of the ideological spectrum are exposing themselves to be the lunatics that they truly are in response to this deal tonight. This is a TREMENDOUS victory for working people, the economy, President Biden, and our chances of keeping the senate and regaining the house in 2024! Once again, President Biden has silenced the doubters and reached a deal that is better than possibly could have been imagined 24-48 hours ago with a GOP house and a compromised GOP speaker to his right flank. We can kick back, relax, and wait for Garland/Smith, Willis and Bragg to throw Trump in jail and onward to victory in November 2024 against a truly incompetent socially clueless Desantis now that the economy has been saved, for like the 4th or 5th time (going back to the 2008 financial crisis) by our wonderful President (formerly VP-shout out to one of the greatest presidents in American history and greatest humans alive period, Barack Obama, btw) and his team of White House negotiators.

It's nights like these where I question why I ever doubt President Biden's political accumen.

Well, done Mr. President. Time for me to stop freaking about polls and just sit back and marvel at how you continuously pull rabbits out of hats!

"A third source familiar with the details told Fox News Digital that the deal claws back $1.9 billion this year of the $80 billion in funding over ten years granted to the Internal Revenue Service in last year's Inflation Reduction Act, and that the debt limit would be suspended until January 2025."

We still need to see what's actually written into the bill, but yeah, at this point it doesn't seem terrible.

I'd like to see the Repubs take a page out of the Dems' playbook and write in some provisions to mandate NFA forms to be processed in 30 days or less, or something like that.

Reality doesn’t matter to those with TDS. Nobody else wanted the job, McCarthy was the automatic choice. The Freedom Caucus squeezed a few concessions on House rules out of it before they voted for him, but it was a done deal, just like always raising the debt ceiling is a done deal.

The only thing remaining to be seem is if the Republicans got anything meaningful.

The stock market may pop on the deal.  But watch
your cornhole.  The old adage, “Sell in May and go away”

Seriously, lower spending will slow the economic growth for sure.

It sounds to me like it is all just a verbal agreement to make headlines.  What is supposedly agreed to now and what gets voted on at some unknown time will be entirely different after the news coverage has moved on to the next topic.  David

Seriously, do you think runaway inflation is a good thing. We want the economy to slow down. We want real growth, not inflationary growth.

Fox is reporting non defense spending is frozen in 2024 and had a 1% increase in 2025. Remember that the federal fiscal year for 2024 starts on October first.

Defense spending including veteran’s benefits are not frozen.

Additional work requirements for government benefits excluding Medicaid.

Claws back almost $2B of the additional IRS funding.

Based on the general statements, it looks like the Republicans got a good deal. For all of you saying the Republicans folded because there were no cuts, get real. It doesn’t work that way. Republicans have a very tenuous hold on controlling the House and the Dems control everything else. If you want bigger changes, help the republicans gain solid control of Congress and the White House.

It looks like the Republicans did OK. They got a 1% limit on non defense increases and new work requirements. The devil will be in the details but it does look like the Republicans got the best of the deal while giving the Democrats enough to claim victory.

I'll say this as many times as it needs to be pointed out because it is so obvious, yet so many cannot see it: the republicRATS are not your buddies. The uni-party doesn't give two shits about you. The entire charade is nothing but a theater, used to placate those who cannot see the first point in my soliloquy.
