Does this actually deliver better hydration than Gatorade or Powerade? Or is it all hype?

It's the current cool thing since prime sponsors a lot of youtubers.
Kind like when monster was everywhere. |
|
Made popular by a YouTuber who is popular with 12 year olds (who probably shouldn't be drinking that crap), so what do you think?
|
|
No. They removed the actual minerals/salt that replenishes electrolytes in order to give it a more sugary flavor without actually using sugar. It's basically a vitamin A and potassium dump. Neither of which are great for you above recommended dosages, especially in a child since they accumulate in the body and nutrition facts are written for adults. A few a day probably isn't bad. Not great for kids to be drinking consistently.
Also, it tastes like shit. |
|
I keep a few pedialytes in the fridge during the summer months incase I need some extra help getting hydrated on a hot day. Anything else has way too much sugar and is garbage.

|
The ingredients look a lot better than Gatorade. I've been looking to replace Gatorade. There's either too much processed sugar or artificial sweeteners.

I doubt it. Gatorade, Powerade, Bodyarmor . . . None of those really do anything for me.
I race mountain bikes, five to six 25 +/- mile races a year. During a typical 25 mile fun ride I’ll sweat out around 2,500ml of fluid, not in extreme heat. I’ll drink from my camel back while I ridding but the only things I’ve found that helps me hydrate afterwards is Pedialyte Advanced Care or Skratch Labs Hydration mix. |

Logan Paul Crossed The Line - Scientifically Dismantling Prime Hydration Refuse to buy hype beast shit. It's a product designed to get kids to pester their parents to buy it for them because youtubers. |

Also look at the importance of Sodium and Glucose transport in the small intestine. There’s a reason hydration IV’s have Sodium, Potassium and Dextrose/Glucose

If you are looking for actual hydration, there appear to be better products. Optimum Nutrition, for example, makes a pre-workout + hydration product that has better electrolyte ratios plus BCAA's plus caffeine. Works great as a mid-day top up for electrolytes and a little pick me up for when I'm teaching.

I drink water and lime or orange Gatorade. Same shit I've drank for the last 40 years when I'm dehydrated.

If you want real hydration, look to nature and nowhere else. Coconut water, orange juice, milk, and good old H2O.
All these artificially colored and flavored bullshit drinks are definitely not good for you. Gatorade is bad too. Kidney stones waiting to happen. |

Prime is gross and just tastes like fake sugar. I don’t believe anyone that says it tastes good.
I like hoist for drinks. Pedialyte sport isn’t bad and works. Pedialyte advanced is heavy duty. Drink it when I’m sick. Sqwincher isn’t bad either. Liquid IV works and doesn’t taste terrible. Drip drop is okay. Protekt is not worth the money. I’m weird and like trying different things ETA trying skratch labs now and not very impressed. |

Quoted: Water isn't always enough. Granted on the flipside, I would argue that many people drink electrolyte beverages unnecessarily. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Just drink water. True. If you are a roofer working in the Texas sun all day or doing an extremely long or strenuous athletic activity, it would be good to have some electrolytes. But most people have plenty of them just from their diet. Simple water would be fine in most cases. ETA: I forgot about drinking electrolyte drinks when you are sick. I do think that helps. |

If drinking causally, then sugar may be a concern. If you “need” a sports drink, then sugar is very helpful to replace glycogen. |

We like Liquid IV in our house. We don’t keep soda or sugary drinks in the house. If the kids are sick we’ll give them pedialyte.
Gatorade and Powerade aren’t worth the cost. |
|
I've been using LMNT but it's kind of expensive. You can probably make your own for a lot less.

Very expensive for what it is. Seems to be marketed to kids/teens, with some success.
