Typical female. Doesn’t matter that she is a dog.

American Dingo. (AKC calls them "Carolina Dog.")
As far as I know, the most recent breed to be identified as "primitive."
Curly-tailed pack animal that, once part of your family, is loyal to death.
Found in the Carolina swamps, they have webbed feet, and they're vocal--not loud and barky, but vocal. She didn't speak English, but I often understood exactly what she said.
This is Cassie, and my last picture of her, taken a few months ago, minutes before the vet pushed the syringe.
She made it 14+ years, despite having been shot as a pup and recovering (mostly) from full paralysis about 6 years ago.
Goddam fine dog.
Still missed daily.

Murphy, my GP, says he can do primitive.  Let's go fuck shit up.

He is truly an awe inspiring dog, he's so gentle with people that you can let him play with a toddler or take him to a nursing home.  My wife had him at the library yesterday and a massive crowd formed, and he loved it.

Don't let that fool you though, he's rendered at least two coyotes harmless solo, and he almost ripped one of my kids a new asshole when they thought it would be funny to come in through a window.

He doesn't like other dogs either, so Petco trips can get interesting (lots of growling and bellowing).  I usually just take him to Home Depot, as there are far less people with animals there, and the staff love him.

The spitz family of dogs are rather primitive.

They include everything from Husky to Samoyed, Chow Chow to Pomeranian.

This one is a Keeshond coming up on 6 months.

Not a primitive breed, but he does a job that's as old as civilization.  It's fun watching him do what he was bred for.

Maus is similar to an ancient breed, I don't know how much they changed in the Soviet breeding program.

I had a beautiful Samoyed. Had to put him down last month. Best dog ever. 12.5 years of the truly best friend man could have. He loved me, my wife, my kids and every other person he ever met. He was basically the Santa Claus of dogs. RIP pal I'll see you again someday.

The Louisiana Catahula is not an AKC recognized breed but has been traced back thousands of years as a companion animal among native Americans.

I agree but the Rottweiler was a lot taller and faster than they are today. I have had Rotts for over 35 years now and have done tons of research on the breed. The BEST dog in the whole world. Best temperament and loyal to no end. Very powerful protector when they need to be. The rest are just dogs. The Rott is King of all dogs. Both my dogs are pure breed dogs with lineage that goes back thousands of years. My boy dog’s father was World Champion. Now let the butt hurt flow. It’s inevitable with the Low I.Q.
