In OSUT at Knox we used to ambush the Marine Tankers and steal their hats so we could watch them run to their barracks with their hands on their heads. It was HI-LARIOUS!

Are these people "real" Marines? I hear that in the AF they try out then come in already wearing an NCO rank. They apparently don't go to real BMT or qualify on weapons or anything.

Fleet bands are. The Presidents Own are not. They are required to pass PFT but they do not go to boot and they are entered into service as a SSGT, athough they do not rate crossed rifles and have a harp or some shit in its place. They cannot be stationed anywhere but in the Marine Band.
