Some years back, I sat across Don in a restaurant.  He said how are yall doing and I ask him if he missed the Dean Martin roasts.  He said "they were great, weren't they?"  "Can't do them now though".  He had a good time that night with the party he was with.  A couple of them were stunning to say the least.

RIP Don Rickles, you brought laughter to all of us.

He was the funniest comedian ever.
When he went full throttle you had better be alert he was quick.
His standup was second to none.

I saw him at the Latin Casino in Cherry Hill, NJ in I think 1976 or 1977. Great night of laughs

As one of the few survivors of the Don Rickles Charm School, this saddens me.

If you have Antenna TV, an over the air channel, they replay selected Johnny Carson shows every night.

That era was fantastical and classy. Reminds me of my grandfather.

Jackets n ties, hats and wing tips. Martinis after work.

I loved watching the Friers Club Roasts with him.

Rickles on Carson. Epic stuff.

RIP, Rickles, you were one of a kind.

Which is good, I don't think we could stand more than one of you.

One of the most memorable things I saw him do was when he appeared on David Letterman's show on NBC in the 1980s. He would tear Letterman to pieces and it was a pleasure to watch.

I don't think there will ever be anyone who can walk in that man's shoes.
