Graduated in 89 but that sign means nothing to me.

However I do chortle every time I see an “Entrance in Rear” sign.

And my high school didn't have that sign.

You had probably 25 different entrances you could walk into.

Schools back then, at least around here, weren't locked down at all.

We had one of those at a building in San Franciscograd - however, the staircase to the basement had been sealed off and the sign was still there.  San Franciscograd!

Exit doors were chained when I went to school.  I carried bolt cutters and clipped the chain.  Freedom!

But I would cite fire safety and fire code if caught.

I wasn't caught.

I think that is what the OP is refering to. Nowadays you have to buzz the office from the front door where they usually have a camera and intercom. So, in effect, you have to check in with the office before you can even enter the school.

ETA - Not that locking the schools down would have necessarily stopped any of the school shooters since most school entrances I've ever seen were metal frame doors with large glass windows in them and usually large glass windows beside the doors. It's like many of the other solutions liberals come up with - it inconveniences almost everybody while not really doing anything effective to stop the problem. 'Feel good' measures so they can say they are doing something.

OP’s post is one of those things that Arfcom people are notorious at doing. Posting something completely out of context and thinking everyone will understand or have similar thought processes.

My best guess, he is making a statement about how schools are now closed campuses.

Pretty sure development of closed schools has more to do with children getting picked up/grabbed/kidnapped in custody disputes than school shootings.
