How many of you actually know how to counter steer?
This might take awhile so the fetuses can google the term.

I only owned rear wheel drive cars and trucks and lived in WI for 33 years. As soon as I got my DL winter became about having fun and being unsafe in RWD cars .

Fun, but an illusion of power.
Try it on dry pavement with a big block
Lets not forget reversals in front wheel drive cars. Also fun

I've owned two air cooled 911 that I would daily drive in Washington rain. You learn fast.

Honestly the scariest RWD cars I've driven is my old Datsun B210 with tiny 175 width tires driving in light snow/ice. Just no weight on the rear end and no traction. So much fun.

I LMAO when I read things on here like needing  four or all wheel drive because it snows enough to accumulate once every 4 years. I have an FJ and Hilux but my daily commuter is a lowered RWD sedan.

Yup. My first automobile was an 85 Isuzu P'up with a bed that totally rusted out, and bald tires. Took me a while to save up for tires. The backend would go in corners quite often when it rained.

My 8.4L with 600 on tap is a hoot. I will say this much. It’s made me a better driver for my other RWD vehicles in the rain and snow.

This fetus has only had two FWD commuters against a dozen or so RWD/4wd through the years.

First car was an '85 Caprice.

Probably.

High school I had a 4-speed RWD chevette that I drove in northern WI winters without ever hitting the ditch.  Guess I was doing something right.

Mid-70s I bought a well-used 1968 BMW 1600.  It was really tail-happy.  Crappy tires and low powered so hanging the tail out was kinda low speed and gentle.  Mostly.

Edit - not my car in the pic.  Mine was nowhere near that nice looking.

Had a 1975 Z1b.  Hit a major gravel patch from a spill going about 80 through a kink.  The gravel was hidden by a hump in the road.  3rd gear.  When the sliding started I yanked the throttle open and did a full opposite lock slide across both lanes.  The bike corrected itself on the outside stripe.  No skill, just luck.  Did have enough sense to know that hitting the brakes would have a bad outcome.

You do realize that there are still hundreds of thousands of RWD cars and trucks being sold in the U.S. every year, right?

Of course. While no production car was really made for drifting, it's fair to say that it's extremely easy to do with mine (Scion FR-S) and I may or may not engage in this practice from time to time.

Yes sir,

I scoff at car drifters that think they are so cool, tell them come back when they can do it on a bike, with their feet on the pegs.

I finally got rid of my 1991 Mustang and picked up a 2008 Focus 2-door.
My MD winters will be a lot more relaxing.  I'll burn a lot less calories, though.
It makes you a better driver in less than optimal conditions, but it really wears you out!

That was very effective and true up until abs. On dry pavement we use to speed up to the intersection, lock the brakes, steer in the direction of the turn, slide sideways into the intersection and speed off. We learned real quick abs stopped that shit.
