I’ve been known to loose and break stuff so I don’t want anything extremely expensive.  My requirements:

US made
Less then $80
Bright color preferred like orange or yellow
Pocket friendly with about a 3’ blade

I started looking and this looks good but I’d like more traction on the grip.

I joined just to recommend you a House of Blades Kershaw Dividend in blue or red, S35VN steel.

I have one. Hits all your criteria and a great one overall.

Not a bad choice OP.

I've carried a Leek for 4 years.

Leatherman skeletool. Seariously. Regular size leathermans are to big for EDC, but not this tool.  It’s still on the large size but having a set of small pliers available is amazing. I would absolutely buy another one if I lost this one.

I carried the leek.   Did not like the slick grips or the safety that would break.   Also had the liner lock fail on me.

I went to the Kershaw blur.   Its slightly bigger, has a textured grip, and the liner lock is more robust.

I carry a Kershaw auto now.

I have a Kershaw Leek. Definitely recommend it. I tend to carry it when I'm going ultra low-profile as opposed to carrying my heavier, more serious Emerson folders. Damn sturdy little knife though. One of my pocket clip screws stripped though, so be careful.

US made under $80 I'd say look through the options at kershawguy.com and choose what looks good to you. I carried a leek for a few years, it's a good light user knife. Be careful with the tip, it gets quite thin which is both a blessing and a curse. I tried a blur but hated the studs (pointy) and the recurve. The bareknuckle is pretty nice; the dividend seems popular too. Some you can get in upgraded steel, though there's nothing wrong with 14C28N, it's a nice clean steel that gets very sharp easily.

I used to carry leaks, carried the same one for about 8 years or so.  I think I have 5 of them around somewhere. Switched over to a Spyderco Delica 4 Emerson and highly recommend it.  The delicas are made in japan and are slim light and high quality.  The Delicas are much stronger and sturdier than any leek

I paid around 70-80 for it iirc, actually have 2 identical ones in some sort of dark blue FRN. At first I thought the fiberglass re-enforced nylon was cheap but it's extremely durable and light weight.  I like it better than the g10 and carbon scales, although my favorite is micarta

There's not much that fits your requirements OP other than US made Kershaws.

The Link, Knockout, Bareknuckle are all decent. The Launch Autos are good as well.

Make sure you all understand what you’re buying.
There is a difference between what I linked as “auto open” and then the Leeks...as “assisted”.

The Leek is “flipped” or opened (traditional knife) completely different than what I love........
Which is basically a push-button switchblade. The Gerber I linked to.

Has anyone here actually flipped the “switch” on the Gerber I linked? Because all of the comparable knives, don’t compare.
Just sayin.

Again, COMPLETELY different class knife than the Gerber I linked. This, IMO, is a very cheap alternative. Which is great for most. I’m not judging.

But..... at the push of a button and $80 more you have complete satisfaction.

It's also nearly double what OP wants to spend.

OP - kershaw makes some great autos, too, if that's what you want, called the "launch" series. I carried one of those for a few years after the leek I had. Pushbutton action, very authoritative snap, good steel (CPM-154), and right at your target price.

ETA: well they used to be right at your target price. Looks like $85-$100 now.

https://www.crkt.com/m16-10ksf-tanto-black-with-triple-point-serrations-stainless-steel-handle.html

I've carried one for a very long time and abused the daylights out of it.

Besides basic knife stuff, I will tell you: you might wanna put threadlocker on the screws that hold the handle together. The factory seems to ship these knives with the screws not quite tight enough (but don't snap them off, or you'll be in a WORLD of regret).

Once I got used to having the double guards above and below making it almost impossible to get your fingers up onto the blade during heavy use ... well, when I have to use blades without the guards, it's disconcerting.

People will tell you can't close these one handed. They're wrong. I close mine one-handed almost every time I use it. The auto locker is great.  It is, however, made for righties, so you probably can't close it one-handed with your left hand (lever is not on the correct side for lefties).

EDIT: I see no reason why you couldn't easily paint it any color you wanted.

A bit more $ than you wanted, but it outclasses every other folder I've ever had in every way.

It's one of the knives I will replace if I ever lost it.  Along with my ffg endura.  Those 2 knives go everywhere with me.

They are an ally, they hate China, and they are one of the nations I believe has some of the longest fine blade making history in the world.

For your $, the spyderco endura/delica options are best.  Try really really hard to get a ffg version.  There's no options in that $ range that even come close.
