For the current popular book series, these are puzzling to me. I don't get the love for Sanderson. Patrick Rothfuss is also extremely over rated. Red Rising was not my cup of tea either. I recommend: Hobb's Assassin over Rothfuss. Abercrombie's First Law over Sanderson. Correia's Forgotten Warrior over Red Rising. Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman is one I'm just starting, but I'm liking it so far. The Prince of Thorns series is good, but oddly written as it leaves much to the imagination and is in a non-linear format. Anthony Ryan's Raven Shadow is also pretty good. |
