The problem with the claim is that Trump has paid off women before, so it's going to be tough to impossible to prove he did this only because he was running for President. I think the theory is, Cohen pays the whores with his own money, then Trump pays him back. Somehow, Cohen using his own money counts as a campaign contribution.
I think where it falls apart though, and I believe Aimless said this some time ago, is whether he would have done it even if there was no election campaign. If that is true, which is obvious, then it’s not a campaign contribution. |
