Out of curiosity what's stopping the planes from just taking off and telling State Department to go fuck yourself. Just guessing, but since they would have to fly over other countries (with varying states of relations with the US) to get out to a safe country, taking off in conditions where the US government might answer questions with "we don't know who is on the plane or what they are doing, but we didn't authorize that flight", might be a bit more 'sporting' than the pilot wants to deal with. |

It's not going to surprise me if someone snaps. The guy being interviewed made a great distinction. While others are saying "you did a good job, did your duty, don't feel bad" he's looking at it realistically and saying "you should question your sacrifice, but instead of killing yourself, channel your rage into something productive like turning things around." Michael Yon says this war, with the loss of fathers/mothers, leading figures, and broken families, this war will have ripple effects for generations. |

Why in the hell did we give the Afghans such advanced equipment? Yes I get the idea of US companies getting lucrative .gov contracts....
But there is no reason to give them Blackhawks. Just buy up a bunch of old UH-1s and have Bell refurb them to donate to the Afghans. |

I said, where do you come from? Do you mean you have a $10 million army tank and it’s cheaper to leave it behind? I don’t care who it is, I guarantee you I can remove that army tank for a tiny, tiny fraction of what you’re talking about. It gets onto a plane anywhere you want to take it out. And he said, he did tell me that, and I never forgot it. I said, this guy has to be stupid because he said, sir, it’s cheaper to leave it behind than it is to take it. And I said you got to be kidding. Now, if they did leave it behind, you have to blow it up. But I don’t like that. I would have taken it for a tiny fraction. I mean, these things cost tens of millions of dollars. Those Humvees that are all armor-plated, they’re unbelievably expensive to leave them, as opposed to just sending planes and transporting them out. How could anybody make a statement that it’s cheaper to leave it? In the meantime the Taliban has it, and it’s not going to be cheaper because they’re going to be using it against us and a lot of other very good nations and people. - President Donald Trump https://tennesseestar.com/2021/09/02/former-president-donald-trump-joins-the-john-fredericks-show-to-discuss-the-incompetent-withdrawal-from-afghanistan/ |

UH-60As are about the same age now, as UH-1s would have been...over 20 years ago. Hueys entered service in 1959, Blackhawks in 1979. So what we gave them isn't all that advanced. It also looks like our troops did a good job of chopping cables and bashing electronics boxes. It might be possible to get them back in flying condition with Chinese or Iranian help, but Afghanistan is in economic freefall right now, so it's the least of their problems. |

SCOOP: Ft. Dix, NJ Base Commander Issues Order to Not Photograph or Video Any Afghan Refugee Resettlement Processing on Base
The commander of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey issued an order last week prohibiting filming or photographing any Afghan refugee resettlement processing due to a matter of internal relations. In a general order, Major General Mark D. Camerer instructed military and civilian personnel that “photographing or filming at risk individuals from Afghanistan and other locations or human casualties, as well as the possession, distribution, transfer, copying, or posting” is prohibited. According to a military report, up to 9,500 Afghan refugees could live at the base for a year. The refugees would occupy existing and temporary housing at the base, including a massive “tent city” on a 24.6-acre parade ground at Fort Dix, according to the report. The newcomers, classified as Afghan Special Immigrants, would live “within the Burlington County portion” of the 42,000-acre base, said the report, a draft assessment of the plan’s environmental impact. Refusal to obey could result in punitive action, such as detainment, and offenders may be charged under the Uniform Code of Military Justice or “other applicable federal law or regulation.” Additionally, failure to comply could result in phone or camera confiscation and restriction from base access. https://humanevents.com/2021/09/02/scoop-ft-dix-nj-base-commander-issues-order-to-not-photograph-or-video-any-afghan-refugee-resettlement-processing-on-base/ |

View Quote I've seen this video posted in a few different places, but this is the best quality version I've seen. I'm a little surprised by the way it made me feel. I'm not going to waste time finding big words to describe the way it impacted me, but it's not only given those of us who never served a no-bullshit "this is what it was like to be there. it was fuckin crazy, man" view of life for the guys on the ground, but it's given us an ability to at least begin to understand what they went through and the range of emotions they must be feeling. I feel the weirdest mixture of sadness, straight up rage, and gratitude after watching it, and it must be amplified by orders of magnitude for the people who lived it and lost their brothers and sisters. The dude who made it needs to go make documentaries when he gets out. |

1 hour ago Many rescues unfolding Working with Dave Eubank, Lara Logan, Rick Clay and others this morning. Great people with great resources can do a LOT very fast. Yet we notice great numbers of sheep-generals with trillions in resources just blow a hole in our ship, requiring private citizens to clean up their mess. The military and Department of State is in our way but we are working around them. SOCOM, CIA, and DoS are taking a support roll now. Later they will claim credit and hand out medals, but they all remain part of the problem not the solution. All the real operators are ex-operators, or mostly are civilians who never were in military or government at all. I am going back over but not rushing. Am getting a great deal done by going smooth and slow. I might fly back to USA before going, or fly someone to meet me with new gear before I go back. Will be some days. The only good thing about wars is you make new friends. |
