The majority of restaurant owners in major NY state cities probably did vote for it. I’m sure there are plenty of business in the state who did’t, and you can’t just move you’re entire restaurant at will if it’s successful where it is at. Just like not everyone can afford to lose their job.

Metro Detroit for example is three counties, one of which strongly voted for Trump. Another aspect too, is while a business may be headquartered in a large urban city, they often have rural manufacturing plants doing the work. Something I know about very well, for example, while Detroit may have a high GDP, many of the components used for automobiles are made in small towns in Ohio or Indiana. You miss the larger picture when all you look at is the paper. My employer is Detroit headquartered and doesn’t earn a profit from a single thing inside of the city. |

Restaurants always had high turnover in NYC…average lifespan of a new restaurant was about 5-7 years before people got bored…theme cuisine always had the trendy short life. Quality or heritage restaurants usually survived much longer.
