I wouldn't want to drive that thing regardless. But I really wouldn't want to drive it in a country with snow on the ground for 14 months a year.

Common belief that electric cars have much less maintenance.
They have oils and coolants just like real cars.

Russians were definitely fans of the Pontiac Aztek.

This thing looks like a picture of an Aztek that some hipster restyled in Photoshop using the smudge tool.

I mean if it works, and the price is low...

Not an EV but...I remember when I was in the middle east there were a lot of Russian made Lada Niva 4x4 SUVs.

They were dirt cheap, and would go about anywhere with great fuel economy. They had one flaw, they would overheat when it got over 120 F, but once you put in an aftermarket radiator they were unstoppable little rigs. TBH I wish they had sold them here, they never imported them. I'd have one in my garage. There is a cottage industry in Europe customizing vintage Nivas for off-road use.

They were neat little grocery-getters. One of the physics profs at State had one. He lived several miles from campus and said it cost a couple of bucks a month to operate. This was when gas was ~25 cents/gal.

Sorry OP, but your title is inaccurate. The Amber is not the first Russian Electric Car.

This was the first Russian EV. Introduced in 2020. The Zetta. And it cost consumers $7000 USD. A range of only 200 km, but there it is. An affordable EV.
