Back in the day I was going through the "missiles to space" transition course, after they merged the two career fields. I'll never forget the intro to the course. Instructor walks in, and says "I'm going to tell you two truths that you can't ever forget. Space... is BIG. Lots of empty space in...space. Space... is HARD. Not every country can do it at all, let alone well." Luna 1-25 has proven that, in spades. It's funny that US missions are only remembered for the failures, they happen so infrequently they make international news. |
