I'm an old school Motorhead fan so thank you Thorgrimm_the_Vain for posting that beautiful song for us. Reminds me of Lemmy's song I ain't no nice guy. Will always miss him for his voice, character, dedication and persona. He was one of a kind!

Any tunes that cut deep, and yet haunt you because you like/love them? ABBA's "The Winner Takes It All" has always been one of those for me. As is this one...

I just found this tread so I hope this hasn't been beaten to death.

I listened to a few seconds, then hit fast forward and turned it off.

I have two kids, the oldest almost 14.  A few years ago I printed out the lyrics to that song and I keep it near my desk.  Every once in a while I read it and remind myself not to become “that guy.”  It’s easy to get distracted by other things in life.

Fell on Black Days was a bit darker when he did the live acoustic version for Songbook.  Great artist, but he had a lot of demons that eventually got the better of him.  His music wouldn't have been what it was without them though.

Alice in Chains - “Died”

For those that understand Layne Stayley’s personal life better,  they will get it. It’s dark and the last thing he ever recorded.

For Squirrels- “Mighty K.C.”

A fairly dark song that was only overshadowed by the band’s own tragedy.

Gwar - “Destroyed”

Foreshadowing Dave Brockie’s own fate.

Korn - “Daddy”

It’s about being raped as a kid.

Soundgarden - “Fell on Black Days”

It’s darker now. It’s about depression.

Taproot - “April Suits”

Song about loss of somebody close.

Any song by Stabbing Westward or Joy Division.

Along the lines of "You Csn Ler Go Now, Daddy," this song from Toy Story 2 is brutal:

Toy Story 2 "When She Loved Me" Sarah McLachlan 1999

I think what we find sad is shaped by our lives. I have two young daughters, so songs like this hit close to the heart.

I remember thinking this song was sad when I was younger and the song was about a toy. As a parent I now realize it's very clearly about children outgrowing their parents, something that is absolutely inevitable. When I hit me I was holding a two year old girl, and that's something I'll never forget.
