"Getting people out of the office"
you mean Mean taxpayer money? |

FFS, that's totally retarded. SF is a shithole full of retarded idiots...

How could this possibly be legal? If I own a business, I can't give my employees food?!? What about snacks? Wasabi pea crisps? Coffee? What about the people that work in the employee cafeteria? What about their jobs?
I love this proposal in a way though, it'll drive more businesses out of that area and into more free states. |

OMG, that is just fucking great.
It will never happen, but it's funny they would even try. The reason all these top tech companies offer first-rate dining, often with free lunch and dinner, on-site dentists and laundry services, and all that BS the youngins' think is cool is really because they don't want the employees to leave. They want them to eat at work and talk shop at lunch. They want them devoted to either working or thinking about work 18 hours a day. If SF thinks they can throw a monkey wrench into the big tech companies exploiting their workers, they are in for a big, fat surprise. ETA I will add that SF is not content taking 3/4 of these people's 6-figure salaries in rent, they want the to take whatever pennies they have left and "spread it around." This is nothing new. Before the tech companies came, the SF talking heads complained about the suits taking BART from their nice burbs in Contra Costa, working and then immediately jumping back on BART to go home. They would rather have people spending whatever extra money they made by commuting to SF and putting up with all that bullshit. Nothing new. They hate the suits and techies taking their high salaries and going home. Maybe they should consider why these people put up with the bullshit that comes with working in SF in the first place? It's not because they like SF, it's because it pays more. And that kills the SF commies. |

Might as well have city folk stepping in poop just like country folk.
Plus, daytime rapes and muggings will now go up by at least 8.7%. |

San Francisco wins again. I assume that this is just an extortion attempt but I hope they pass it. Forced interaction the rich and vibrant community. That's a good thing. A proposal introduced Tuesday to ban employee cafeterias in future San Francisco office buildings represents more than an effort to boost the city’s restaurant scene, backers say.
“People will have to go out and (eat) lunch with the rest of us,” Aaron Peskin, a San Francisco supervisor who co-sponsored the proposal, told The San Francisco Examiner. “This is also about a cultural shift,” Supervisor Ahsha Safai, who proposed the ban, told The San Francisco Chronicle. “We don’t want employees biking or driving into their office, staying there all day long and going home. This is about getting people out of their office, interacting with the community and adding to the vibrancy of the community." View Quote View Quote Proposal won't pass. |

The tech elites wouldn't comply. What are they going to do, send the fuzz in to throw away eggplant Parmesan at gun point?

The companies should form a separate business that provides free bus service right past the restaurants that are lobbying for this, to a location with a free cafeteria.

Will post pic in an hour but San Francisco rolls out toilet on wheels so now you can 1 stop shop

If these nuts ever acquire total control, I fully expect them to force people out of rural areas and into the cities. They've got the magnifying glass, and they want us to be ants.

Someone will be "giving" out food in the parking lot every day. Their crypto wallet will be curiously larger every free sandwich they give away.

Wonder what would happen if someone started a rumor of a serial killer that prays on the homeless in that city?

How long until you have to prove you ate at an authorized restaurant each day or they'll tax you for bringing your own food?

I am so glad I don’t have to go to San Francisco on business trips any more. The petty BS and elitism of that place is almost unbearable. I sat in the a mid level management meeting there where the topic was increasing minority and women employment participation; there were 12 people in the meeting and 11 of them were minorities or women.

This might actually be a GOOD thing for the city - more people having to deal with aggressive bums that shit and piss everywhere might actually want to go out of their way to stop it and want laws enforced.

Everybody brings lunch
Bame workers in every cafeteria in every firm all lose jobs Great plan |

And then the Liberals will complain about the extra pollution that it creates.

and then there's this, I believe SF are attempting to follow suit.
The city of Santa Barbara has passed an ordinance that will allow restaurant employees to be punished with up to six months of jail time or a $1,000 fine for giving plastic straws to their customers.
The bill was passed unanimously last Tuesday, and covers bars, restaurants, and other food-service businesses. Establishments will still be allowed to hand out plastic stirrers, but only if customers request them. View Quote |
