Are there any lawyers onboard who can comment on this? How unusual is this (very I assume)? What would cause four lawyers from the prosecution side to leave suddenly? What does this mean for the defense going forward?

The whole thing is more staged outrage.  Manafort was always about leverage on Trump.  But they shot their wad on impeachment and missed (Nancy got hit in the face), so no more need for leverage.  Now the Manafort case is an unsexy dog.  So they make a patently absurd sentencing recommendation, it gets overturned, and they can all play victim from Literally Hitler and resign "in protest."

I need help with something.

With the DOJ lawyers dropping like flies around Stone case and all the delays and issues with Flynn case. Plus no issues raised with Manafort. Does that mean Manafort was a true 'bad' guy and deep state plant placed in the Trump campaign? Bad hombre?

The emails were discussed back in the original v1 of this SAP thread also.

Now that I consider it more, if the FIRST traitor to be charged was a Republican AND the former Speaker, that would be HUGE and it'd show President Trump is not being partisan and crucifying the Dems, exclusively.  In fact, I suspect President Trump will focus on the Republican traitors first, or at least with equal vengeance.  Good on him and a very strategic way to give the normies and Dems a little consolation prize(s) while the Dem traitors get their big slap down also.

"I don't expect much of anything until Trump is re-elected..."

Not on the prosecution (or other disruptive) front.

After he's re-elected he's a lame duck and it's "Katy, bar the door!", hopefully with a heapin' helpin' of "Now youse can't leave" to go with it.

But after his re-election, things are going to get tough.  Antifa and other Brown Shirts will act up if/when major players are arrested.  In addition to that, Everything Trump has accomplished will be washed away at the end of his term if he doesn't neuter the Fed.  And that, my friends, is going to be painful for everyone.

From reading some of those (not through all of them) and the other batch of 145 already released it is clear that RR wasn't letting on if he was actually going to appoint a special counsel when Comey was fired.

However, on the 11th or 12th or both he had meetings with and notifications about:

- Richard Burr and Mark Warner of the SSCI
- Chuck U Schumer
- Received a letter from 20 D AGs literally written by Lawfareblog calling for a SC
- Benjamin Wittes from lawfareblog called for RR's resignation unless he appointed a SC
- Some lawyer from MA who was screaming for a SC
- His old Baltimore territory of the DOJ saying he should appoint a SC
- The ACLU calling for a SC

Additionally, it appears Rosenstein was thinking about appointing Holder's DAG into the role and then on the 12th he speaks with Mueller at some point late in the day and there are emails about it.  They both appear to be on the same page.  This is four days after Comey is fired and on Friday so all of the sudden Mueller is speaking with RR and RR has all weekend to "think" about it.

AG Sessions announced he now had 27 open leak investigations on 14 Nov 2017. Coincidentally when did Q start posting? We know that Eric Ciamarella (pronounced "Charmarella" ? Charlie ?) was removed from the NSC and sent back to CIA due to leaking. That was done well before the Vindman to WB episode.

I'm starting to question if some known leakers were left in place and VERY closely monitored. The original plan may have been to pursue them after the Russia thing was settled, but the D's immediately started in on peach mints. If you (as POTUS, AG, & NSA) could, legally as NS issue, monitor the leaking, lying, and tall tale spinning by reversing the spying back onto the bad actors, would you?

Just thinking to myself. Guess we'll know soon enough.

Domestic terrorist gets 14 years

Ohio man sentenced to 14 years for plotting attack on Cleveland’s July 4th parade in an effort to support al Qaeda

Demetrius Nathaniel Pitts, aka Abdur Raheem Rafeeq, aka Salah ad-Deen Osama Waleed, 50 of Maple Heights, Ohio, was sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment and lifetime supervised release for attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization, as well as 5 years of imprisonment each for threats against the President of the United States and threats against family members of the President of the United States.  All three terms of imprisonment will be served concurrently.

“This defendant plotted an attack on families and children in downtown Cleveland on July 4th, a day of utmost importance to all Americans, and he further attempted to undermine our democracy by making threats against the President and his family,” U.S. Attorney Justin Herdman said. “For this conduct, the defendant is deserving of every day of this 14 year sentence.  The Department of Justice is committed to protecting our nation from people who adhere to violent ideologies and move to act upon them, whether they are in furtherance of their own personal aims or, like here, on behalf of terrorist groups like Al Qaeda.  We are grateful to the FBI, the Cleveland Joint Terrorism Task Force, and all of our law enforcement partners for their vigilance and hard work in this case and many others.”

“Pitts, a U.S. citizen living in Ohio, pledged his allegiance to al-Qaeda, a foreign terrorist organization, and will now serve a lengthy sentence behind bars,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Eric B. Smith.  “The FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force will continue to use every available resource to disrupt those who seek to bring harm to our fellow citizens.”

Some money laundering and prostitution here

United States Attorney Announces Money Laundering Charges Against Operators Of Multimillion-Dollar Nationwide High-End Prostitution Enterprise

Geoffrey S. Berman, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Peter C. Fitzhugh, Special Agent in Charge of the Department of Homeland Security’s (“DHS”) Homeland Security Investigations (“HSI”) in New York, and Dermot Shea, the Commissioner of the New York City Police Department (“NYPD”), announced today the arrest of TRACY REYNOLDS, a/k/a “Sara,” and IZHAK COHEN, for money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering in connection with their ownership and operation of VIP Escorts, a nationwide multimillion-dollar business offering high end prostitution services, as well as the seizure of bank accounts and 391 websites related to the VIP Escorts business.  REYNOLDS was arrested this morning at Tampa International Airport while boarding a flight to Mexico and was presented today in Tampa federal court.  COHEN was arrested by Israeli authorities in Hadera, Israel.  The United States Attorney’s Office will seek COHEN’s extradition to stand trial in the United States.

According to the allegations in the Complaint sworn out in Manhattan federal court:[1]

From at least 2012 to the present, REYNOLDS and COHEN have operated an online high-end prostitution business through their company and its affiliates known as “VIP Escorts.”  VIP Escorts maintains a website, http://wvvw.vipescorts.com (the “VIP Escorts Website”), which it used to promote its prostitution services and was registered to COHEN.  VIP Escorts also operates an array of affiliated escort websites, which also advertised its prostitution services, with names such as “Prestige Escorts,” “American Escorts,” “Russian Escorts,” and “Manhattan Exotics,” all of which are registered to COHEN.

As part of their prostitution business, REYNOLDS and COHEN arranged for escorts to meet clients in Manhattan and in numerous other locations for prostitution services, charging them thousands of dollars.  REYNOLDS and COHEN required escorts to deposit the proceeds of their commercial sex acts into a large number of bank accounts that they controlled, many of them in the name of fake entities.  REYNOLDS and COHEN then laundered the money through thousands of domestic and international financial transactions.  In total, over $10 million passed through various personal and business accounts controlled by REYNOLDS during the course of this conspiracy, and over $1 million was sent from REYNOLDS in the United States to COHEN in Israel in thousands of small transactions designed to conceal the nature, location, source, ownership, and control of the proceeds.

REYNOLDS and COHEN then used the proceeds of the prostitution scheme for personal gain and to further their illegal prostitution business.  They paid, for example, over $295,000 from bank accounts under their control to advertise the VIP Escorts business on a known advertising platform for the prostitution industry.

Vindman might not be done yet

President Trump on Tuesday suggested the military should consider additional disciplinary action against Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, who provided damaging testimony against Trump in the impeachment inquiry and was reassigned from his White House job last week.

"We sent him on his way to a much different location, and the military can handle him any way they want," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. "Gen. Milley has him now. I congratulate Gen. Milley. He can have him."

Gen. Mark Milley is the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Asked specifically if the Pentagon should pursue further action against Vindman, Trump said it would be "up to the military."

"But if you look at what happened, they’re going to certainly, I would imagine, take a look at that," he said.

The president's comments on Tuesday signaled he was open to additional punishment for officials who testified against him in the impeachment inquiry. Some of his allies have sought to cast the ouster of witnesses like Vindman as justifiable reassignments rather than retribution.

Speaking at an Atlantic Council event hours after Trump's remarks, national security adviser Robert O'Brien insisted that Vindman and his twin brother Lt. Col. Yevgeny Vindman, who was also dismissed from his White House position on Friday, were not retaliated against.

“At the end of the day, the president is entitled to staffers that want to execute his policy, that he has confidence in, and I think every president is entitled to that," O'Brien said. "But there is absolutely no retaliation with respect to the Vindmans as far as impeachment goes."

O'Brien also said that the reassignments were his decision and that he stood by them.

Earlier on Tuesday, Trump said there were more departures to come, but it was unclear if he was referring specifically to impeachment witnesses.

Defense Secretary Mark Esper on Friday signaled there would be no punishment for Vindman, saying the Pentagon protects service members from retribution.

“We protect all of our persons, service members, from retribution or anything like that. We’ve already addressed that in policy and other means,” Esper told reporters at the Pentagon during a press conference with his Colombian counterpart.

Vindman had been working temporarily at the White House as a member of the National Security Council when he was dismissed. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland was fired later the same day.

Both officials were among those who testified about Trump's conduct toward Ukraine during House impeachment inquiry hearings last year. The House ultimately impeached Trump for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, alleging he withheld security aid from Ukraine to pressure the country to investigate his political rivals.

The Senate acquitted Trump last week in a party-line vote.

Vindman proved to be one of Democrats' most memorable witnesses. A Purple Heart recipient, Vindman testified that he believed Trump's conduct on a July 25 call with the Ukrainian president was inappropriate and that he reported it to his superior.

Trump has mocked Vindman for wearing his military uniform during the hearing and complained about the contents of his testimony.

On Tuesday, the president accused Vindman of leaking and going outside the chain of command.

"I obviously wasn't happy with the job he did," Trump said. "What was said on the call was totally appropriate. I call it a perfect call; I always will call it a perfect call."

Morgan Chalfant contributed.

On Tuesday, the president accused Vindman of leaking and going outside the chain of command.

"I obviously wasn't happy with the job he did," Trump said. "What was said on the call was totally appropriate. I call it a perfect call; I always will call it a perfect call."

Cliche, but after the last three years... Would you be surprised to see Trump Tweet a status update on Colonel Second Lieutenant Vindman taking atmospheric samples at the Amundsen–Scott Research Station?

I do not watch CBS, but Catherine Herridge is still a great reporter.  ~7 minutes or so.  I don't know if this made the "evening news," nor if it ever will.  I love how nonchalant the anchor is when asking about FISA abuse, like it's nothing.

I hate to have to ask this here but I fail to understand the significance of these prosecutors notice of leaving?

Is this something that happens every time a federal case concludes? Or is this evidence that the prosecutors are disgusted and wish nothing but MAGA going forward?

Thanks

I'm not entirely clear on 2 of them, but at least two of them have resigned their positions with the Government .

I'd say that is not normal.

Lolz.  Soon.

I'll be honest. I know the left literally attempted a coup on the presidency.  But, if no one is prosecuted before the election, I will not vote in this election.

Gigantic temper tantrum.

“We fairly recommended 6-8 years for Russian agent Stone (for the exact thing that got PappaD 14 days). Putin’s puppet Drumpf turned the screws on turncoat Barr and made him reject our sentencing proposal. Since the DOJ is now obviously corrupt beyond repair, we are left with no recourse but to resign with great prejudice. We are looking forward to the MSM, Schiff, Nadler and Pelosi hastily manufacturing new Articles of Impeachment as it is the only recourse if we want our grandchildren to grow up in a safe and just America”.

I think it is more along the lines of-----they are getting ready to be witnesses to their own prosecution here soon

This is ARFCOM... GET BOTH!!!

Edit:

What would happen if the team going after Stone became “the hunted”? Since they are currently involved in a prosecution, what would the optics look like if Barr went after them before they concluded? I would think if white hats were doing it “by the book” they wouldn’t interfere... Yet.
