maybe an MP5? I was in DC about three years ago and they had the whole place locked down for some foreign dignitary that was coming into town and there was a secret service agent standing behind a barrier near the capital with an MP5 stock clearly poking out of a case. It was in a sleeve resting over his left arm and he was holding the pistol grip with his right. I don't know why he was holding it covered up but my guess was all the tourists out that day and didnt wanna scare people. He was right by the sidewalk when i walked by i said "nice MP5" and he just smiled. 99% of the people walking by had no idea the guy was cradling a sub gun not 5 feet from them.

Well you can see him move his fingers and adjust his jacket so I think its a real arm.

Occam's Razor applies here.
Obviously the SS must comply with the ADA and they hired a veteran with a prosthetic arm. |

If I were the president, I'd have my close protection guys open carrying standard M4s with ACOGs or Aimpoints. Nothing fancy, but they have been killing enemies of America for a long time.
It's not like there is anyone out there who doesn't know that every one of those guys has a .357sig pistol and / or a PDW under their jackets. |

View Quote It is funny... most watching that are looking at the President (or the First Lady ) But folks like us are watching the USSS and how they do their thing. Did you notice that they had the doors on the beast open and agents with hands on them to get POTUS tossed in and out of there quick. Suburban behind had oversized running boards for guys to jump on the outside for QRF. Cool stuff. |

Not sure I've ever seen the USSS close protection guys that amped up and I've always watched those details closely. Those guys were dead tired that night, for sure. I wonder how many credible threats were on the board or had been countered, God bless those guys.
ETA: Sully, I noticed the Beast with the guys holding the door handles too. Baldy with the supposedly fake arm was Mrs. Trump's bodyman, probably. He kept her in his focus 100% of the time. All the agents were walking carefully, ready to sprint instantly. No one was walking straight up or off balance. Quite a bit of carefully controlled violence ready to go in the blink of an eye. |

Just shitty upper management that's ridiculously risk-adverse when it comes to introducing new firearms / technology. There's a reason the place ranks 305 out of 305 among federal government agencies to work for. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

Thats the guy that was standing behind Trump during the concert.

I don't know what that is but one time that Obama was in town, I was working at the airport and headed to where I had my truck parked (secure area within the airport) and I as I came around the building I walked right into a group of mean looking dudes, head to toe in tactical gear and helmets. There had to be over 30.
They looked like like they were ready to roll at any second. It was so weird that they were just there waiting. They weren't talking to each other either. I said hello but no one so much as even smiled. I got the fuck out of there pretty quick lol. I assume it was the CAT team? |

I have to lol at some of the "theories" here. Those guys close to the POTUS have one job, and one job only.....cover and protect the principal. Yes they have weapons but the "violence" is going to come from the counter assault guys while POTUS speeds out of there.

Those guys looked like they were ready to come unglued when Trump and his entire party got out to walk down the street.
The contingency plans on that portion of the parade must have been interesting!!!! anybody check out the thickness of the glass and doors on the Beast as they were opened. The locks and hinges are HHHUUUUGGGGEEE !!!! |

Those guys were switched on.
I'm betting privately that most are fucking elated that an adult is in the WH again. |

You guys think it's a sign of a fake arm.
My equally-valid theory is it is the new ARF low-visibility recognition sign that all is well. I hear you, protective agent. |

I noticed that guy holding his seemingly fake pinky/arm. He eventually did move his arm away from his hand, after Trump/wife got out of the limo. The pinky SS guy circled around, from the front to the back, behind the limo as POTUS got out on the passenger side, then pinky SS guy continued his 360 walk around the back of the limo to resume his 9 o'clock position again (driver side) in the motorcade walk. At one point - while pinky SS guy was looking "fakey", the guy on the opposite side (3 oclock) had his arms folded across his chest, with his fingers interlaced, which I thought was the perfect stance to NOT be in if you need to draw a weapon or protect your face from a water bottle, etc. Odd. Maybe those are hand signals/body postures based on a perceived threat in the crowd.
The guys arm was not fake, but I was thinking the same for quite awhile. |

In the video of Clinton fainting into the van, I pointed out that one of the guys had an unusually long arm with a strangely placed thumb.

They are simply 'cover' agents wearing ballistic resistant coats.
Hands are placed so they can quickly open the coat and cover their VIP. |

The USSS won't buy SIGs with rails because they are afraid some agent might put a weapon light on them...do you really think they're going to be rolling around with animatronic arms with concealed plasma rifles? They should put a fake Starbucks coffee cup in it or something. make it less conspicuous.

Maybe its a secret sign for the Secret Service?

I think I spent more time watching the USSS than anything else, second was the roof top shooters. I don't think that arm is fake, why would it need to be? Pretty well known that some roll with more than just a pistol on their hip -- Uzi during Reagan anyone? When they dismounted as Trump was about to get out of the Beast was cool. Most hand their hands sweep to their waste while a few kept their arms tight against their body, as if they were trying to stabilize a weapon on a sling. And I really wonder what are inside those other SUVs, probably a mobile armory and intel unit. View Quote As someone that has been up close and scene the inside of the suburbans, you do not want to mess with them. Our Dept. was fortunate enough to house the prearrival SS vehicles for a few days. Agents were cool as shit, down to earth and funny as hell, right up to the point that POTUS was in our airspace. They then turned very serious and put the game faces on. The folks we had were not in suit and ties. Plates, helmets and full battle rattle. ETA: this was no where near DC and a past POTUS. |
