I am no fan of cops, as I dont like the idea of some human, having that much control over me and my life and freedom;
however, they should not have to play those type of games to apprehend someone. I would not want to be a cop in today's fucked up ROE policies. Deal with violent crazy criminals, and can only use harsh words, if that...racist.  |

Officers with less lethal are ham strung by management forcing them to use the lowest power "less lethal" rounds.
Fucking half load bean bags and harsh language. Fuck that. You want someone to go down or comply without using bullets. Full load bean bag rounds and 1 oz rubber bullets. You are not trying to get their attention. You are trying to stop them from continuing and comply right now. Pain. Lots of pain will do that but you can’t use weak ass methods. Hit them hard from the start and 87% you will not need 10 rounds and risk a potential escalation of the incident. |

Taser isn't working (because the users are both trainees and probably missing badly with their shots) and homie is high enough or schizophrenic enough not to feel pain from the beanbags. 40mm should have done something more, but the shots looked like they probably were less than ideal when taken (I'd bet a hit to the hand would have dropped that stick if it was aimed during a pause in the foot pursuit). Bum rush the fucker and take him to the ground. Or get him cornered and get him talking, then bum rush. I had a very similar situation last year that ended with just tackling the guy as soon as we got close enough after he'd put the stick down. We had at least 8 or 9 cops on top of the guy and all he could do was faintly curse at us. If he won't put it down, going in with shields and batons would be the next best. He'll get one good swing on a shield, and then you drive him into the wall and dog pile on. 90% of combative subject bodycams you see online are a mess because officers are afraid to just close the distance and overwhelm with numbers. That's how we win. It's not about strength, or skill, it's about overwhelming numbers and body mass gaining control over the limbs. Yes, there's an attendant risk with closing the gap, but if lethal force isn't merited yet, sooner or later you've got to man up and get hands on. |
