Yeah, never put smokeless in a BP gun, I've seen some folk say that low enough loads are safe for some of em but I wouldnt trust it in a gun not made for it. I think you are safe loading BP in a smokeless gun, but i would tread carefully while building loads. Start low and work your way up while looking for signs of over pressure. BP cartridges have their own quirks, you cannot leave any air space in the cartridge. If you do it's likely to blow up on you. use a filler of some kind to take up the extra space, lots of folk use cream of wheat. In my 577/450 I use cotton wool followed by a waxed cardboard spacer then a grease plug, then another wax cardboard spacer. |
