No, not in this case.

per the Commandant of the Marine Corps, you are wrong.

"A Marine is a Marine.  I set that policy two weeks ago - there's no such thing as a former Marine.   You're a Marine, just in a different uniform and you're in a different phase of your life.  But you'll always be a Marine because you went to Parris Island, San Diego or the hills of Quantico.  There's no such thing as a former Marine."

The Commandant of the Marine Corps, General James F. Amos

So this guy is just in a different uniform and a different phase of his life.

Still a Marine.

sorry but

Perhaps you should shut the fuck up if you don't know what you're talking about.

Army MOS requirements

Marine MOS requirements

They have been notorious for granting waivers for people other branches wouldn't take as well.

He missed twice at less than 100 yards, on a target that was barely moving at walking speed.

Line score requirements for particular MOSs are not admission standards.

The Marine Corps requires an AFQT score of 32(50 if you have a GED), which is higher than the Army. I'm not sure which "people other branches wouldn't take" you are referring to, but it isn't uncommon for the Army, Navy, or the Marine Corps to get recruits that didn't make the cut with other branches for various reasons.

Which branch were you in?

You'd rather those skills not be taught to recruits? USMC has some of the highest enlistment standards.

In child abuse cases, allegations by the future ex-wife & future ex-sister-in-law and a little coaching by those two of their children is considered sufficient to destroy a man's life.

In custody cases, primarily.

My guess is the first thing they're doing with the child is sending her for a physical and psychological examination.

Phallic gods are common imagery in barbarian societies, even those that frown on the gheyness.  We are GD, which I think meets the requirements for barbarian society.

Sometimes in war, cocks need to get measured.

Sadly, that's all too plausible.

Still, there are a lot of problems with who we promote to senior NCO rank across all services, and how they're selected. I wouldn't necessarily be surprised at how this turns out, no matter how it goes. I've seen some seriously sociopathic bastards who managed to make E8 and E9, in the Army. Not all of them, by any means, but enough that I have to wonder what the hell a lot of the promotion boards are thinking of, when they release the lists. There are a couple I know personally that if you were to tell me tomorrow that they were serial killers or rapists, I'd just shake my head and not be a damn bit surprised.

The way this guy was portrayed in the book, I kinda suspect we're going to find out that a.) he did it, and b.) this isn't the first time, either. Something about the way he was described just resonates with "issues" of some kind, and not in a good way. A lot of the senior guys I worked around in the Army that behaved like that were all too likely to have huge skeletons in their closets that they'd managed to keep hidden for years--Things like real sexual harassment of female subordinates and a bunch of other crap I don't even like to remember. You don't find too many "benign martinets", in my experience. They're usually masking some other pathologic behavior problems with their antics, and the senior leaders are all too prone to mistaking that for "dedicated leadership". Which is how these jackasses wind up being promoted to Sergeant Majors in the first place--Poor leadership over them for most of their careers.

It's amazing how many of these "Heee-larious" types that people love watching and telling stories about turn out to be seriously fucked up as leaders and people. I can think of about two guys at that level, officer and enlisted, who were always similarly "entertaining" for outsiders to watch. Meanwhile, they were making life absolutely fucking miserable for people that were actually working directly under them, and they were managing to conceal some truly sociopathic/psychopathic behavior. One of them should have been put into a fucking mental hospital, but we don't do that to full Colonels. They just get asked to submit retirement, and go on to make the military look bad when they do the same shit in civilian life.

Sometimes it's about showmanship and leadership; other times, it's simply masking the very real pathologies many of these types have going on. It ain't easy telling the difference, sometimes.

Perhaps you should shut the fuck up if you don't know what you're talking about.

Army MOS requirements

Marine MOS requirements

They have been notorious for granting waivers for people other branches wouldn't take as well.

You're celebrating people being murdered with the skills they learned in the Marine Corps.  There's a reason why they have the lowest standards for admission.

I'm not even .mil and can tell that you're talking out of your ass.

Most likely case is that his wife initiated a divorce and is using the kid to leverage everything to herself.  Fake rape/molestation charge against husband cinches it in divorce court.  Guy is ruined even when innocent.
