The legislature overrode the governor's veto to pass their bill prohibiting questioning of juveniles without an attorney present. The parent(s) cannot waive the attorney for the child. The child cannot waive the lawyer. The child cannot be compelled to get a lawyer so the questioning can proceed.

Effectively they're stuck not talking to juveniles.

News report from 2022 when it became effective.

Look at the passive racism in the way this was reported. Oh, it’s not a school shooting, it was just an altercation where a student was shot.

Did someone bring a gun into a school?
Did they shoot somebody while in the school?

Then it was a damn SCHOOL SHOOTING.

Multiple random dead and injured is a different thing than what I am guessing a personal fight between two students.

In any case, sad that a young man’s life was extinguished over what probably amounts to nothing.

Do you work for CNN? Ghetto hijinks doesn’t count as a school shooting.
"School shooting," "mass shooting," are terms used to denote events which are out of the ordinary.
In certain communities, events such as this are anything but "out of the ordinary."

It’s not “passive racism”. It’s ’active reality’. An entire group of people (ever growing) have been left behind by the economy, education and culture. And it’s intentional.

Violence (regardless of the location) is just one byproduct of this plan.

The lack of diversity should be addressed. Perhaps some DEI initiatives would make a more well-rounded school by balancing the number of groups not well represented.
More Asians would mean higher test scores and less shootings.
I read the title as "Japantown"

And yet, come November, blacks will be lined up around the block to vote for Democrats, just like the Jews.

I suspect all school stats to be inflated via dilution of standards.  Usually they are phrased in terms of performing “at grade level “, but are the standards for a given grade level the same as they were 30 or 60 years ago?

Were they really 'left behind' or did they decide 'not to get in the car' with the rest of us. There's nothing stopping anyone from having traditional families, getting jobs and education, and being successful. Also, they tend to vote for their own demise (democrats).

Could some if it be intentional? Maybe, but if that be the case then whomever is left behind needs to get their own ass in gear.  It's not the .Gov's job to drag them along, it's their own responsibility.

Easy to say, but it ignores a lot of uncomfortable facts about the world that we live in.
Go to the local elementary school on the first day of class and randomly select 10 kids from the 3rd grade.
Now, take those kids to the nearest high school, and put them in the same classes as the seniors.
Do you honestly expect to come back in June and see those kids graduate?

One problem with diversity is the issue of comparability. Incomparable groups can’t share a society.
The more advanced group inevitably controls the progress and evolution of the society.
Over time, they will create a society the less advanced group will find progressively more difficult to survive in.
Eventually, meritocracy becomes impossible, unless the society is will to let the less advanced group become a permanent underclass.
