I live in South FL on a large property with a massive tree overlooking a lake. The tree is home to lots of native blue herons and other birds. I've noticed in the last few years Iguanas are living in the tree and falling down into the lake on a daily basis. I am very concerned they are damaging the nesting areas and messing with the native birds. Should I start killing them? I feel bad killing anything without utilizing the meat, but these are invasive and I know for a fact rare native birds nest in that tree. Thoughts?

Yes but you can’t use a pellet gun. You have to use at least a 30:06 or larger.

“Humanely”

OP, kill em and leave them in the lake.

Assuming you live on a healthy lake the critters will be happy take care of the rest.

Iguana-on-a-stick is a well known street food in the wastelands.  Maybe give it a try.

Before you start blasting away, I'd check on legality.  If legal and safe, then the only question I'd have is what round for Iguana?

I’ll never understand the thought process that makes someone feel bad about killing nuisance animals. Especially invasive species.

Shoot with a pellet gun. Cut them open. Through in lake.

Done

You serious?

Maybe the baby iguanas are for the bigger herons and hawks or eagles. But iguanas grow quickly and a 3’-5’ lizard isn’t going to have to worry about anything but gators and humans.

You’re wrong there ace.

I once watched an alpha iguana and muscovy duck go face to face over the duck’s eggs.

The iguana won and ate the eggs.
