A new class-action lawsuit in the US alleges Coca-Cola and Simply Tropical fruit juice deceived customers with claims of an all-natural, healthy product when the juice has been found to be contaminated with toxic PFAS at levels "hundreds of times" above federal advisory limits for drinking water.
PFAS are a class of about 12,000 chemicals typically used to make thousands of consumer products resist water, stains and heat. They are called "forever chemicals" because they do not naturally break down, and they are linked to cancer, fetal complications, liver disease, kidney disease, autoimmune disorders and other serious health issues. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/jan/19/simply-orange-juice-coca-cola-pfas-class-action-lawsuit |

Quoted: Great. I kinda drink a lot of that stuff View Quote Whenever I pick up OJ, I’ll usually look for this brand. Love OJ over ice and will drink the whole carton the day of getting it. Spend a dollar or two extra trying to support the hometown boys and find out they’ve been poisoning you. Way to go, Coca-Cola. Fucking bitches. |

Luckily the FDA is watching over us.
Where's Bill Bob "Goliath" Thornton when we need him? |

The PFAS is in the coating of the paperboard carton. It is also in the coating of almost every non-stick pan that you have been using your entire life.
It has taken the FDA 30 years to figure out that it is unsafe, yet we are to believe that they determined that mRNA vaccines are safe after only a few months? |

Even before the recall this stuff isn't great to drink for most everyone.
It's sugar water, not much different than soda. |

Isn't orange juice already known to be terrible for you? I mean it is basically a glass of sugar water

I thought if I ingested enough forever chemicals I'll live forever.

"Simply Tropical" AND "simply orange" ??
I see no mention of Simply orange in the article. Simply tropical is a different product. Simply orange says 100% pure sqeezed, NOT FROM CONCENTRATE. I have a bottle in hand. So what are we talking about actually. |

Reminds me of the vegan impossible burger where you can get more glyphosates than anything else on their menu. Ymmmm, Roundup sauce.

Lots of toxins are "all natural". All Natural, doesn't mean healthy.

It could be fresh squeezed by Thai virgins during ovulation and chemicals from the packaging could still be an issue. |

I drink “Evolution” fresh Pure Orange from Starbucks. Its “cold pressed”.
What could possibly be bad from a top drawer company like Starbucks ? |

"It is unclear how or why PFAS are in Simply Tropical as the chemicals could be contaminating the water that is mixed with the juice, the fruit or packaging. If the chemicals were intentionally added to the product, then the levels would probably be much higher, Neltner said." It "may" be the packaging. "Simply Orange" doesnt use any added water. So it "shouldn't " be coming from added water. If it comes from the fruit well we are all SOL lol. |

Move to the Sun and drink whatever the Sun is made of. Nobody has ever died doing that, so it's gotta be safe.

I've been buying a couple bottles of this per week. That ends today. Not sure what to replace it with though. I like having juice. Damn!

I have to wonder if the PFAS in the OJ was simply taken up by the roots from the groundwater. It is running around forever and ground water in FL isn’t deep.

Do you know what else has toxic chemicals in it?
Steak Shrimp Broccoli Lettuce Eggs Milk Bread Chicken Tomatoes Spinach and so on... |
