I enjoy danger noodle threads. Especially here. Y’all get all hot and bothered by colors, head shapes etc, and actually have, based upon my 12 years here, gotten wrong about 87% of your ID threads (just teasing - the correct ID usually gets pointed out pretty quickly). ID’ing snakes is hard, even for the pros.
MODS - PIN THIS I am only @ one person in this thread, and that’s because he knows his shit based on what I’ve read. There are others here that are just as knowledgeable, so IM me to help save snakes. @azjeeper Post your snake queries, photos etc here. Background / I have a masters degree in herpetology and another in mammalian cell culture. |

I love snakes, but have basic knowledge. This is neat. Include photos of venomous snakes and generally neat snakes and what region of US they're found in. Basic diet and length. I've spent hours of pursuing Wikipedia about this stuff.
Thanks! |

It would be more educational if the photos had captions and whether the snake was venomous or not. There are plenty of us that have a "kill and determine type later" attitude towards snakes when they're somewhere they're not welcome. |

Well shit. They dont bother me I dont bother them but spiders snakes bugs fuck it nuke it from orbit. 22lr and 22mag used to have snake shot though, never really tested it out cause never needed to. Hmmm...

If we are talkin snakes we gotta get @Bubbles in here also.
I’ve got a snake or two. Nothing venomous. Boas, BPs, Black King, Viper Boas. Very cool animals. I also have a few Tarantulas. They are kinda cool. Attached File |

New visitor at the farm. Rat snake perhaps??? Attached File

I approve of this thread, although I don't think we get it wrong as often as OP suggests. Many folks here have experience with snakes and try to chime in on threads to help. If anything, when I've seen someone post about killing a harmless snake the Poster gets called out on it.
Cool thread |

Had a sinaloan milk snake named Dave years back. He was cool as shit.

Precious tried to eat a Copperhead the other night down at the party barn, it had to die, sorry bro.

We caught one at work like the first photo on OP.
I have handled my share of Rat snakes but I couldn't ID the little guy and if I cant 100% confirm what it is I aint picking it up. Currently looking for a Hog Nose for the kid. I saw one recently but (I think it was a she) got away from me. |

What is the current recommended first aid for a venomous snake bite?

My “pet” snake, Carl. He’s a rat snake that likes to hang around our house.

I'm pretty good with Texas snakes, but I'll admit I missed the fox snake in that thread a few days ago.
Good idea, Bob. |

lots of folks on the other snek threads recently posted,,,"let them be, they do good stuff",,,while that may be
true, those do-gooders can go work somewhere else i keep a .410 & .38 w/shot handy if they choose to attempt to inhabit the same space as me. tally so far this season is 2 coral & one copperhead snek I guess those that say they're ok don't go sticking their hands under garden plants on a daily basis. to each his own |
