Damn kinda looks like an AK and Sig 551 had a fuck fest. I like it.

Good looking rifle, and from what it sounds like that 9x39 will be awesome suppressed.

That short Type 91 upper looks like fun, and I really don't care for piston driven or short ARs anymore.

Probably end up costing ~25cpr vs 50+cpr

Potential for greater subsonic performance with the right bullet

(mostly the former)

Good question.

It's a military round designed to address the issues encountered on the battlefield with 200 grain 7.62x39mm subsonic
ammunition. Basically it throws a larger diameter (.36 caliber) and heavier (278 grain) bullet.

I spoke with the engineering team of one well known ammunition manufacturer well versed in the 300 BLK and they
stated it would be much easier for them to produce effective subsonic expanding ammunition in 9x39 than 300 BLK
as it was both larger in diameter and had more mass. They are also looking into doing supersonic ammunition for it
as well.

Well it is a significantly larger bullet.

Also it doesn't have an army of fanboys howling about it.

I'm interested in it because I really, really want a Vintorez. That or a Thunder.

Not because it's the shit, but because it's a very interesting gun.

And I'd take an AR15 in that caliber just to piss you off!

Any word on the barrel lengths for 9X39?

Will a 7.62x39 mag feed this 9x39 ammo?  Is the back end of a 9x39 round identical to a 7.62x39?

If so, I have an idea

9x39 is straight walled. 300 BO is not.

9x39 would be Ohio deer legal.  Indiana as well I think.

Cheeki Breeki was from Stalker.

You could get an AS VAL, VSS, and oTs14 in that one too.

Case head is the same but 9x39 has less case taper, more like 6.5 Grendel (IIRC). I'm betting 6.5 Grendel mags will be the ticket

It's got a bottle neck on it.

Is 223 Ohio legal?

To my untrained eye, Gunwriter has actually played with genuine rounds so can correct, they look, again to me, like they share the same case as the 7.62x39 and are just necked up.

If so, would those C-Products, or whatever they're called these days, magazines just work?

I have a stamped KS-47 lower (PSA's version of the mutant).  It was designed for use with a 7.62x39 upper and feeds from a standard AK mag.

If I could do a barrel swap and use the same 7.62x39 BCG that would interesting.  Somebody with one of those rounds on hand needs to stick it in an AK mag and tell us if it looks like it belongs.

The gun originally made for it: the Ruskie Groza:

Looks like the Ruskies also make this "Vintorez" rifle for that caliber too:

Here is the gun:

And here is a look at the highly-refined, advanced Soviet silencer core!

Yes.  At least a 9mm can rated for the round (might be too much for regular 9mm cans).

Wiki indicates the bullet diameter is:

9.25mm which = .364"

Closest Sierra bullet I see is a .358 diameter.

Looks like reloading for this is a no-go.
